just discovered that the memorial to the 5-7 fire (one of the deadliest incidents in france since ww2, quite similar to crans-montana) actually made a lot of outrage for incorporating a part of the actual building and direct accusations (the sign reads "Placed in the entrance hall, these turnstiles made by reckless and money-hungry men caused the death of 144 children burned alive on November 1, 1970.") and it was criticised a lot because it's a place for grieving and memory so people thought it was in bad taste and out of place. Part of the name plate was stolen a few years back apparently too, and how fucked up do you have to be though to steal part of a memorial for such an horrible event?
