Watched the No Shame music video & my brain just kept going ‘damn, can’t believe Mikey’s over here crashing a car and doing this when one of his closest friends just faked his death. But he doesn't know Luke faked his death.'

it's just more of a wtf type music video in terms of literal story compared what it all actually means.

but basically story wise you have;

Calum’s a suburban dad barbecuing 

Luke fakes his own death for some unknown reason 

Michael crashes a car presumably on the way to a party w/ a group of other people and all of them immediately take photos

Ashton is an eccentric plastic surgeon

But that’s only the video in a literal sense. More so, it’s talking about the effects of fame. Like Calum’s keeping up the Joneses. Ashton’s the beauty standards perpetuated by society—mean look at the Kardashians and how they mold trends. A lot of folks get plastic surgery to rid themselves of a feature they were bullied over while others are addicted to looking like someone else. Just take Oli London for example. Or those people who want to look like Ken and Barbie.

Michael’s part reminds me more of the bystander effect. How you have to specifically tell an individual, ‘hey, you in the red shirt w/ the pink phone, call an ambulance,’ otherwise no one will do it even if the person needing the ambulance is bleeding out. 

Lastly Luke seems like to be the whole pinnacle of it, that sometimes fame gets to the point people will fake their own death and start anew to get away from it. Death by absentia if you will.

Probably just spewing shit folks already noticed or it’s all over the place. I always have to ask if how I view their music videos is ‘too Americanized or US-centric.’ Like I have a similar thing I could write for the Teeth music video but Idk if it works seeing as they’re originally from Australia. My main theory for that music video is that each of them individually are experiencing a form of therapy used in the earlier days of U.S psychiatrics.
