A Brief History of Inreys Part 4
Here it is, it’s still ongoing, and we reach
This age lasted for around 2000 years, and was marred by an event not long after the end of the war. Due to events that are too detailed to go into here (suffice to say it's related to the war) a demonic horde swept across Inreys for 5 months. The horde was lead by a powerful demon who raged with the prospect of blood and death, he eventually came to a holy place, named “The Golden Valley”. This was considered a holy place by many and held the highest temples for many of the gods who helped create the material world. After reaching this place the demon took great delight in the sacking of the temple of Heironeous. Heironeous was a god who loved the world so much that he committed a sin in that name of love. He bound his soul into a relic in his high temple, the result of which was increased fertility in the land where it resides. The demon stared upon this relic, and as a result stared into the soul of a god. That is not good for you at the best of times, but the god was of the opposite disposition to that of the demon and it absorbed part of the soul, weakening the god and the land. The land diminished in fertility and crops were not as bountiful as they once were. The empire suffered because of this, and attempted to acquire more land from near by Basharti, starting a war that drained the economy and adventurers of Inryes. Heironeous however did not sit idle, and he created a prophesy:
“A child of faith and of war shall be born. She shall come to pass and save this land and the world is in need of a true hero. Pure of heart and pure of soul, this child shall shape the future and all it holds”
The word of the gods holds true power, and when the time was right a hero was born. Anwé Ungolian would be born and trained within the walls of the high temple of Heironeous, she lead a band of adventurers to the Nine Hells of Baator, and slew the demon who held the soul of Heironeous. With his soul restored Heironeous put power into back into the land, and restored the fertility and peace returned to Inreys.
6th Age – The Age of Renewal
With the land of Inreys restored the world was at peace yet again. Much like the 3rd Age, this age isn't particularly interesting or active. This age lasted for 6000 years and was a time marked by massive advances in magical technique and knowledge, much of the lost volumes of magic from the earliest days of the empire and before even that were recovered in archaeological digs in the middle mountains and other places. The lost libraries of the Lich Lords of Inreys held great power and the empire profited from it.
