It took me a while for me to warm up to this #amp, which is ironic because the amp itself warms up for me quite quickly...thanks to solid state rectification! 😆 . I was always a 2 x 10 guy (with my blackface #Vibrolux, brownface #Tremolux) or a single 10 guy (brown or black Princeton, tweed Harvard). The 12" speakers in my Deluxe and #DeluxeReverb didn't have a tight enough bottom end for me...they always seemed a bit floppy when I played them (although they sounded great for others...just not for me). . But there has been a seismic shift in my tastes recently. The acquisition of the 2 x 12 #ProReverb last year has made me re-examine my preconceptions about 12 inch speakers and, in turn, the 1964 Tuxedo #Bassman is now amongst my favourites! The Tower of Transition. Three “transitional” #vintage #Fender #amps (and a modern #CustomShop #Tele just cos it’s Tuesday). - 1964 #6G6B #Bassman - 1963 #6G2 #Princeton - 1964 #5F1 #Champ Each of these amps represents an older design that Fender stuck black Tolex on just to update the look until they could get around to updating the circuit. The Bassman and the Princeton are identical to the blonde/brown Tolex models of the early 1960s. The faceplates have been updated from brown to black but they still have the white knobs and numbers printed on the faceplate just like their blonder/browner older siblings.
