Melima was walking down the street, absentmindedly braiding her hair.  She knew it exposed one of her pointed ears, but she didn't care.  Noone was paying attention anyway.  Turning a corner, she bumped into someone.  "Ai Valar, I apologize." she said quickly, dropping her hands from her still braided hair.

He’d been brought of the freeze. He’d been unthawed. Just like Khan he’d been pumped with drugs and stimulants to reverse his biological stasis. His skin had pinked, his chest had begun to rise and fall once again. He’d been awoken.

  He’d immediately not liked Admiral Marcus and had looked around, seeing other of his kind still sleeping, but one was missing beyond his own. Marcus had deduced it was Khan and that was when the nightmare began. Marcus had become frightened of Khan and he was going to be his bargaining chip if he ever needed one, of course Marcus had to hide the fact that he’d awakened and thus had begun this terrible snowball of events. All of them witnessed by John.

  He’d been awaken because Marcus had seen the special attention Khan would give his sleeping chamber when he came to see what was left of his race. Though Marcus would never know the depth of their relationship. John had refused to answer, no matter how many times Marcus had beaten him while he was helplessly tied up. And he had always been tied up.

  Until Star Fleet had found him. 

They reminded him of Marcus. From the yellow-shirted "Captain Kirk" to his companion Spock. John had refused to come with them until they told him they knew where Khan was. For a moment he had chosen to believe them before it too seemed they'd told him a lie. He wasn't tied up again, but he experienced the next worse thing. He was placed in a cell. Alone. His shoulders ached from their long binding to his sides and his lip was still flaked with blood and tender from just that morning's "interrogation" by Admiral Marcus. He was bruised.

Kirk interrogated him. There were no fists, but he refused any answers. Here he had the power to be silent, to turn away and not speak. They tried to get Spock to talk to him, but all he got from him was the demand to see Khan.

That demand grew in volume and the man, he called himself John-just John-began acting erratically. He screamed and stayed close to the back of the cell, but eventually his want grew so much that he came to the front.

He pounded his fists into the glass he knew would not break and shrieked for Khan until his knuckles were bloody and even then he did not stop. He'd go hoarse if he had to. It felt like hours to him that he howled before finally he was retrieved by a woman. 

Again he was thrown into a cell, but as his eyes adjusted to the dimness he realized he wasn't alone. He used the then closed door as support as he peered at the man on the bunk ahead of him.

They'd not lied to him. Khan was alive.
