We’re all sleeping on Neil Gaiman’s Jalter fan song
(Ginger’s Song of the Day: September 22nd, 2019)
“One tiny crack in the wall Something so fragile and so small
And is this really where it ends? Is this really where it ends, my darling?
One thing One tiny Thing Out of Place.”

8in8 is a musical collaboration between Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman, Ben Folds, and Damian Kulash (lead singer of OK Go). The group was formed with the goal of writing 8 songs in 8 hours and they live streamed the process, encouraging fans to give ideas through the live stream of the event. From what I understand, the group got more than a little tipsy and fell short of their goal, instead recording 6 songs in 12 hours. The songs were fun and occasionally featured historical figures. This song features Amanda Palmer on vocals and piano, Ben Folds on drums, and Damian Kulash on bass and synth.
“Nikola Tesla I wish you’d invent a Current that could activate my heart Mysterious Jester I do not expect you Come back from 1932 I’ll always burn a light for you Sweetheart…”
And is this really where it ends?
Amanda Palmer And The Grand Theft Orchestra – Theatre Is Evil (2013) Over on my "industry" blog Channel Nowhere, I used occasionally to post a "Top 10 albums of the year" type thing.
Favorite things about this song from an OK Go/Amanda Palmer/Ben Folds/Neil Gaiman crossover special:
1. It's HISTORICAL FICTION, and it's a SONG. Those are like, my favorite things. (Close second in this category: Boney M's 'Rasputin'.)
2. Taught me the word "bifurcated".
3. The near rhyme of "ocean" and "Dauphin".
4. Neil Gaiman singing, specifically the muted English glee on the word "guts".
5. Perfect fan video is perfect.
