A Day for Walking Again
Another clear day in this part of Oregon began with a morning low of just 29 degrees, but the high reached all the way to 53 this afternoon, despite all the clouds.
My blood sugar was just 180 this morning, a result of good protein planning yesterday. Or, actually, very little food at all following the big hamburger lunch at McMenamins.
After enjoying our coffee and playing the online brain games, Nancy and I had oatmeal for breakfast. Then we showered and dressed and ran out to Albertsons for wine, cream, cold brew and cat food, then Native Coffee for a nice hot mocha, and the Mini Pet Mall for more cat food. We were also looking for more bird food, but we’ll have to plan a visit to Wild Birds Unlimited at Valley Oaks.
Then Nancy drove out to Kalen’s, where she spent much of the day. In the meantime, I finished answering the questions on the 8th Step for today’s Zoom meeting of the Steps & Traditions group.
Just before 1:30 p.m., I went out for a walk, thanks to the temperature being a comfortable 53 degrees. I did 2.17 miles in just over 41 minutes, a total of 4,800 steps.
After the walk, I napped for a little more than half an hour, then spent time updating the Flickr account, which including uploading three more photos from the former Magic Carpet Golf location on Speedway in Tucson.
Just as I was getting started on the Zoom, I heard from Nancy that she was on her way home, and she arrived not long after the group began our work on the 8th Step.
When the group finished, having planned the next session in February for the 8th Tradition, I had Nancy catch me up on her day. Sadly, it included a fall while she was out walking with Kalen and Kurt, but she was able to finish the walk, and Kalen took care of her injury.
We started putting dinner together a little before 6 p.m. We heated up the last of the Greek chicken and rice and heated up a fresh pot of green beans. After cleaning up and enjoying our dark chocolate peanut butter cups, we settled in for our streaming entertainment.
The first show tonight was the opening episode of the new series of “Hidden Assets,” an AcornTV show about the Irish Criminal Assets Bureau. This series involves connections to financial crimes in Spain. Our next viewing was another episode of “The Paradise,” the Finnish-Spanish crime drama. We closed the evening with one more episode of “Astrid,” from Walter Presents on PBS.
A little bit of rain might show up early tomorrow evening, or, given the continuous changes in the forecast, any time of the day. But the night’s low is thought to remain above freezing, with tomorrow’s high around 53 once again.
Other than my Tuesday evening men’s recovery meeting, there is nothing planned for our day. We will have to make plans while we enjoy our coffee in the morning.
