I REALLY like the headcanon that time is just completely screwed up for any time travelers.

They have very little semblance of an eternal clock

They might know their ages, but with a margin of error of several months or even years. The longer you've been an agent, the less sure you are.

Some agents don't celebrate their birthdays because of this, but others try their best to celebrate on the right date and hope it's accurate enough.

Imagine there's a time agent, and her birthday is in two days, but she goes on a mission that takes two of her own weeks, then returns on the same day. Technically she should be a year older, but her birthday hasn't actually passed.

(It's a complicated situation- best not to think about it)

When did this event happen? A couple months ago but also like in the future? Who even knows?

Dakota and Cavendish have zero clue how long they've been partners. It's been years, for sure, but how many exactly? They certainly have no clue.

There's time agents spanning across generations, so sometimes at certain events and staff parties, you can have an agent who is supposed to be dead and an agent who hasn't even been born yet in the same room.

Time telling words are just meaningless at this point- I'll do it yesterday tomorrow, it will happen next week in 1992, we'll be in last month later today.

Days and months and seasons start to blend together. It's spring where you are but in your video call with one of your agents, you can see it's the middle of winter where they're stationed. Your mission took place through August and September but when you return, it's February.

Some agents have developed a system to keep their time in order. If their mission takes a month, they make sure to return a month later. However, many higher-ups dislike this because it "takes too long"

Dakota and Cavendish never bother attempting that system. Dakota doesn't care too much about it, and Cavendish would rather finish his missions as quickly as possible.

(Also, it helps when agents are assigned on longer missions. Being in a set time for long enough tends to correct their sense of time. At least, until they have to return to their own time again. Dakota and Cavendish have been in this era for a while with their pistachio mission, that they've more or less gotten used to time acting normally again)
