A place where creativity comes first, where every fan is welcome to share their ideas, and where we can spend the summer celebrating everything we love about 9-1-1 while we wait for the new season.

Before we begin, though, I want to explain what this project is—and what it isn't.

A place where creativity comes first, where every fan is welcome to share their ideas, and where we can spend the summer celebrating everything we love about 9-1-1 while we wait for the new season. Before we begin, though, I want to explain what this project is—and what it isn’t.

❤️ A Different Corner of the Fandom

This isn’t a “Buddie” fandom and that’s completely intentional. Not because I want to exclude Buddie fans—quite the opposite. The Buddie community is already incredibly active, creative, and fortunate to have countless events, prompts, challenges, and spaces where people can celebrate the pairing together. Honestly? I’m a little jealous. 😄 So instead of trying to compete with something that already exists, I wanted to create something different. A space for everyone who enjoys 9-1-1 from another perspective. Whether your favorite part of the show is the rescues, the friendships, the families, the character development, the writing, or completely different ships, this is your chance to create alongside people who share that same spirit. Different doesn’t mean better. Different simply means… different and I think that’s something this fandom deserves.

🎨 What Are These Challenges?

Beginning with the first week of July, I'll be launching one new creative challenge every week.

Each challenge will last seven days, giving everyone plenty of time to participate.

There are no winners.

No rankings.

No pressure.

Just creativity.

You can participate however you like.

✍️ Write a fanfiction.

🎨 Draw traditional artwork.

🖥️ Create digital art.

🎥 Make an edit or a video.

📸 Design graphics.

🎵 Create playlists.

📚 Write meta or analysis.

💭 Share headcanons.

Honestly...

If it's creative, it belongs here.

There are no limits on the medium you choose.

The only goal is to have fun together.

📌 The Only Rule

There is only one creative guideline for these challenges. Since this project was created specifically to explore another side of the fandom, Buddie (Buck/Eddie as a romantic pairing) won’t be part of these prompts (and the May/Ravi romantic relationship too). Everything else not specified is permitted_ -Canon couples. -Past couples. -Rare pairs. -Friendships. -Sibling relationships. -Mentorships. -Family dynamics. -Crossovers. -Original characters. -Alternate universes. -Missing scenes. -etc.. You have complete creative freedom.

I don’t ship buddie, but I’m curious as to why you didn’t include bucktommy in your 911 event? I saw you had the other canon couples except them

No, actually, I totally understand why you asked! 😊 I think I probably wasn't clear enough.

The reason is that when I talk about the four main characters - Harry, Ravi, Eddie, and Buck - I naturally tend to think of the pairings I personally write and focus on. But the challenges themselves aren't limited to those ships at all.

In fact, I remember that in one of the upcoming prompts (you haven't seen it yet 😊), I literally say something like, "Have fun with it! Use whoever you want!" I'm pretty sure I even mention Tommy as an example. So yes—BuckTommy fans are absolutely welcome! 💙

If you look at the "rules" (and honestly, calling them rules sounds much more serious than they really are 😂), I only excluded two romantic pairings: ❤️ Romantic Buddie ❤️ May/Ravi Everything else is fair game. And the only reason I excluded those two is because… well… it's my little event. 😂 My game, my rules. That's the one privilege I get! Of course, if someone doesn't like those rules, they're under absolutely no obligation to participate. Nobody's being forced—it's all just meant to be fun. 😊 Those are simply the two pairings that don't really fit within the little corner of the fandom that I've built around my stories.

And I want to be clear: I'm not talking about the entire 9-1-1 fandom. I'm only talking about this small community that's grown around my fanfiction and the people who've chosen to join it. Everything else is welcome. For example, in my own fanfiction Buck ultimately ends up with Elara—that's my personal canon. But that doesn't mean I ignore Tommy. Quite the opposite. Tommy is actually the relationship I consider the most important romantic chapter of Buck's life, and whenever I can, I bring him back into the story. In fact, in one of the chapters I'm currently writing, Tommy even plays a significant role in helping the characters through an important situation. So even though I don't pair Buck and Tommy together in my universe anymore, I still consider Tommy one of the most meaningful people in Buck's journey. That's why I mention him so often.

So yes—I'm almost certain one of the prompts even uses Buck and Tommy as an example. Which means… BuckTommy is absolutely welcome! 💙 Honestly, among all of Buck's past relationships, Tommy is probably my favorite. So please don't think they're excluded—they're definitely not. The only romantic pairings that aren't part of these challenges are Buddie and May/Ravi.

Everything else—from Shannon and Eddie, to Abby and Buck, to Buck and Tommy, or literally any other pairing you can imagine—is completely welcome. Have fun, be creative, and enjoy the challenges however you'd like! 😊💙

oh um, im a little confused? i thought the event was based off your universe, that’s why you included your original characters in the first post? truth be told, that confused me, but im always down for an excuse to write. plan was mainly to do a drabble since i dont know your characters that well, but im relieved at the clarification. i just assumed you were ballsy at making an oc x canon challenge XD

No, I actually think there’s been a misunderstanding. As I said, that may be my fault—English isn’t my first language, so perhaps I didn’t explain myself clearly enough, and if that’s the case, I apologize. However, if you go back and read the rules, I never say that the Challenge is about my original characters.

The 9-1-1 Hiatus Challenge is simply a game I created to make the long wait for 9-1-1 a little more fun. It runs for eight weeks, though honestly, I think we can be flexible with the deadlines: if someone wants to answer the first challenge in week seven, that’s absolutely fine! ❤️

But I want to make one thing completely clear: the entire Challenge is based exclusively on the official TV series, its canon, and the nine seasons that aired on FOX and ABC. My fanfiction universe has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I promise I’m not so egocentric that I would create a fandom game that basically says, “Praise me, I’m your goddess, now everyone write about my characters because my universe is the only one that matters.” 😂 No! That was never the idea. The whole point was for us to have fun together with the actual show. A game based only on my personal universe wouldn’t even be fun for everyone.

For example, the first Challenge asks you to choose an actual 9-1-1 episode and rewrite one existing scene by changing something about it. So, obviously, I’m asking you to work with the TV show, not with my fanfiction. The same applies to every other weekly prompt: they are all about the series and its episodes.

Part of the idea was also to give us an excuse to revisit the whole show. Lately, understandably, we’ve mostly been talking about Season 9 because it’s the most recent one. I thought this could also be a fun reason to rewatch older episodes, rediscover past storylines, and remember characters or moments we haven’t talked about in a while.

I genuinely hoped it could be something fun for everyone, and I hope this clears things up and that you’ll enjoy it if you decide to participate. ❤️

I’ll admit that it makes me sad to think people might not participate simply because they mistakenly believe they’re expected to write about my fanfiction or my characters. Of course, not participating because you’re not interested, don’t have an idea, or simply don’t feel like joining is completely understandable. But deliberately excluding or boycotting someone simply out of personal hostility is something I find very different, especially in communities that speak so strongly about inclusion and kindness.

Are people actually interested in this challenge with your ocs? Genuinely asking because I’ve seen a similar event like this in the twilight fandom, but I don’t think enough people were interested so they closed it after a few days. It’s hard to get people interested in oc x canon events in a fandom like this so I’m curious what you expect to come out from this. Like did you do an interest check or did you just decide to do this and hope people will create free content of your characters. Thanks for answering.

You can write about any character, relationship, friendship, storyline, emergency, or scene from all nine seasons of the show. The only two restrictions are no romantic Buddie and no romantic May/Ravi. Everything else is completely open.

For example, the first Challenge simply asks you to choose a canon scene and imagine how you would have written it differently. You can answer with a short fanfic, a drawing, GIFs, an edit, or even just a few sentences. If you want to add your own OC to your idea, you can—but you absolutely don't have to.

So, to be completely clear: you are not being asked to write about my OCs or my fanfiction universe. This Challenge is about the TV show, its nine seasons, and your own creative interpretation of its canon. ❤️

what if you dont like how we use your OCs?

If you’re referring to the challenge I created—the one running this week—the only restrictions I actually included in the rules are no romantic Buddie and no romantic May/Ravi.

Of course, people are free to like or dislike that rule. If someone doesn’t like it, they simply don’t have to participate. I’m certainly not holding anyone at gunpoint and forcing them to join. 😅

Other than that, this challenge doesn’t require anyone to use my original characters. In fact, my OCs aren’t involved at all, because the challenge is entirely based on 9-1-1 canon. (tv series no fan fiction)

The idea is simply to choose a real episode of the show—not an episode or chapter from one of my fanfictions—pick one specific scene from that episode, briefly explain what happened in canon, and then show us how you would have written it differently.

Let me give you an example, because that might make it clearer for everyone. 😊

Take the episode where Eddie is shot by the sniper and Buck witnesses it. In the canon scene, Buck manages to drag Eddie behind the fire truck, get him to safety, and take him to the hospital. Eddie survives.

For the challenge, someone could rewrite that same scene by imagining that Eddie doesn’t survive, and Buck is then forced to face Christopher and tell him that his father died.

That would be an example of taking a canon scene and rewriting it so that the events and consequences unfold completely differently.

So, for this particular challenge, my original characters simply don’t exist. They aren’t part of the equation because the challenge takes place entirely within the world of the actual 9-1-1 TV show, not within the universe of my fanfictions.

You could recreate your idea with GIFs, draw something, make an edit, create a moodboard, write a short Tumblr post, or simply answer the prompt in a few sentences.

There are no creative limits—the whole point is just to have fun, get creative, and see everyone's different ideas. ✨
