If Vee had a gateway, it’d be like smoke, trapped in a bubble. She uses a lot of incense in her spirit work, so smoke and shadow is heavily associated with it.

13. What school(s) of magic best encompasses that of your character?

The majority of Vee’s magic is definitely divination and necromancy, but she doesn’t cast any of those spells without an abjuration spell in place.

15. If your character was tasked with teaching someone else about their magic, where would they start? What would the learning curve look like for that?

Vee would start by teaching cleansing, grounding, and warding, before even thinking of letting her apprentice work with a spirit. The learning curve would be very gradual, with plenty of supervision and guidance.

... how do you even get started determining if someone is a responsible breeder? Especially when their website looks last updated about 15 years ago, and doesn't have anything on it about health of parents or return to breeder contracts, or anything of that nature?

I thought perhaps offspring of working gundogs might mean that the health was better evaluated, but I can't find anything about health testing on those breeders sites, either... if they even have one. (going through classifieds at gundog sites)

I welcome comments, rants, long explanatory reblogs, and emails (DOOMSpaniels at gmail). Anything is helpful. Maybe a contact with a good cocker spaniel breeder, who might be able to put me in touch with someone?

You know what would be ideal... an older puppy/several years old dog who won't quite make it in showing/performance but would be a great housepet, or several years old and retired from breeding. Yvaine loves everybody; we've usually had male/female dogs, but she gets along very well with female dogs too.
