Text; Can you guys ask us questions so we can practice our AAC
Hi! I was wondering how you went about putting together your AAC? And if you're comfortable, could you show your small words, social, and/or autism folders? Thank you! :)
Hi!!! 👋 Luna use the app CBoard, which is free. It does have a paid version, but we didn't find we needed any of the paid features. The voices available are a bit scarce on the free version.
We get symbols either here on Tumblr or from the AAC image library. The doggy symbols Luna uses should all be on the library, but also you can find those specifically on this website.
Luna uses its AAC daily around the house with wife. We try to take vocal breaks at home, even if we aren't having an actual verbal shutdown. This also helps Luna see what symbols it still needs to add to our boards to help us best communicate. Setting up AAC on your own is a big task, expect it to take a lot of time.
Luna is at work right now, so only have phone. Hope these aren't too hard to read. Can screenshot again in a few hours if needed. Any of the subfolders in here only contain one or two symbols so far. Let us know if you have any other questions! 🩷🪽

🎨-Do you have any fun phrases on your AAC?
don't have any fun phrases on Bug yet, but want to make some soon
💿-How finished would you say your AAC is?
Bug isn't near done we downloaded a page set online and have been editing it to be better for us
📺-Do you have a favorite character you headcanon as using AAC?
Yes! think that sal from sally face uses AAC, partially because we have an alter who is a Sal fictive, and they use AAC because they can't verbally speak
🫗-Do you stim with your AAC?
We do, we want to make a page with lots of fun buttons right now we like to press random buttons to see what sounds like
Thank you for ask! We posted this ask game a while ago and low-key forgot about it but is good to practice with our new program, all our answers were written in TD snap, and copied over to here! Hope you’re having a good day or night!

<3<3 floof floof soft soft
🐚 :: Do you rely more on full phrases or do you prefer to build sentences with individual words?
Definitely a mix! I usually try to find one button/phrase that can say what I mean, and use that when possible, so I have a lot of buttons for phrases. But most of the time I have to create an individual response, and I build from scratch with words or by typing.
🎡 :: [HIGH TECH SPECIFIC] What does your AAC's voice sound like? Why did you choose it?
The programs I use most of the time (proloquo2go and proloquo4text) use my voice! I made an apple personal voice a long time ago. I used to use a specific voice called Will (it's the voice of voice- actor Will Patton, if anyone wonders where that came from! He narrated some of my favorite books!) And I still use that voice sometimes. But I really wanted a voice that actually sounds queer / like the fagdyke i am, so I'm glad I was able to have enough speech to record my own! It's funny because before I lost my ability to speak much, I hated recordings of my own voice, even on T. But now that it's pretty much gone, being able to use my own voice on my device gives me euphoria.
✏️ :: Do you use more community made symbols by AAC emoji artists or the original base symbols AAC is typically seen with?
I usually use the symbols that came on my device, when available. I like the symbols generally and find them pretty clear usually. But there's a lot of words they don't have any symbols for, so I look for my own, or use ones people have created for AAC, or icons/photos I search for on the internet, or sometimes if it's really simple and I have a very specific vision, I make my own, usually by editing or combining clip art or stock images from online.
🐛 :: Do you use your AAC in any unique ways?
I dunno! I don't know any other AAC users in person. Like a lot of people i use my AAC for self-regulating and stimming. I also have routines in there and use my AAC as a memory aid. I think the way I use my high tech AAC is pretty standard?
🎨 :: Do you have any fun phrases on your AAC?
hmm I have a lot of my scripts and echolalia in here. but they will only make sense if you know the shows they are from. I've got lots of swearing options too. I have things i say to my cat, like "who's the softest guy in the world?" I can't think of anything that is particularly fun, I guess?
🫧 :: What's the weirdest button or card in your AAC?
hmm this is also hard to answer! I have some obscure buttons for sure (i.e. very specific dinosaurs or very specific sewing words) but I'm having a hard time finding any weird buttons. I guess I just don't think of them as weird because they are all there for a purpose? not a very interesting answer sorry haha
Thank you for asking floofy friend!!!!
