One thing that I don't get about good shows like Naruto and atla is how they ignore the biology of a species and it's response to different geographical landscapes....
In atla how can they ignore the fact that while aapa is a good vehicle and companion overall, he cannot possibly survive in the desert for more than an hour or so..(I believe)
He is furry big ball and is native to the high peak mountains where there is likely cold and air bison have likely adapted to that climate and evolved.
In this world it would be like putting a snow leopard or a polar bear in the middle of the desert and we all know how that will turn out...
Similarly in naruto the lack of importance they give to human biology and climates impact on it is outrageous...
Mainly because both of the above shows have great worldbuilding, plot and these mistakes bring down the overall image...
I am happy that naruto as a whole explored racial diversity and all but they did not take into factor the climatic consequences on human body and it's subsequent evolution.
Sunagakure and iwa are extremely hot places with desert and dry climate respectively.... therefore it is extremely plausible that people living in suna will likely develop dark/dusky complexion like we see generally today in middle east or desert areas to protect them from the Sun....
And perhaps the argument against this could be that their chakra can protect them but we seem to forget the fact that hidden villages have civilian population too...how will they cope???
No matter how much u cover up your body as they do in suna, the body will start to evolve to accommodate the climate... it's basic evolution.
Another thing is how they can put black people in kumo like how does this makes sense?
Black people have high count of melanin in their body to protect them from the Sun because they come from an equatorial region where sun always shines so how can they survive in a cloudy high mountains where there is little to no sunlight. Black people in Kumo don't make sense because they will likely be too weak to ever become warriors. if they were put somewhere like suna or iwa then it would have made sense....but...
People who have evolved based on their geography find it difficult to adapt to sudden change in climatic conditions. Even today if a black or a person of color suppose from Congo or india suddenly shifts to england or Sweden they pose a risk of developing bone or skin diseases because there they won't get the sunlight their body is accustomed to and it will take a long time for them to adapt.... likely generations and genetic diversity.
Even In our world we see that the white people who first migrated to America, their descendants have developed a unique color that is a bit tanned because of their geography. Comparing them to the white people living in Europe there is always a difference. (Keeping in mind this observation is from my personal experience.)
Even black Americans have generally have a dusky dark brown complexion that is unique and completly different from their african counterparts . (Again my personal observation)
(And pls keep in mind this observation is of people whose ancestors shifted/forcibly brought to America and they are their descendants not the ones who just migrated recently.)
so how.....does it make sense in the shows...
And I know all of this is hypothetical and likely will not make sense but I just wanted to rant so....
Correct me if I am wrong but the lack of respect to biology in these shows is very irritating mainly because the shows overall are very appealing.
PS konoha is the only place where we see some semblance but not too much of diversity in race and it makes sense there and makes it seem like kishimoto only put effort in konoha not other villages.
