We had originally planned to hike today because Mom loves you two so much that she worried about you having an accident on the water. (A friend of mine had a son about Gus's age who drowned a few years ago not far from here and we both think about that a lot.) But then the group convinced her we'd be safe. We were, and Mom loved being on the water with you two. We all loved it.
Mom made everyone shredded beef tacos, then we went to the pavilion to listen to Cindy Woolf and The Creek Rocks. We played bocce ball, we made smores, and you two ran around with the pack of feral children. There is no cell reception, so our large group of people (75?) were all tuned in to each other and the the music and our kids and I loved every second of it. I was remind of -- and nostalgic for -- my own childhood. I especially loved leaning against a tree and watching Gus's crew chasing each other, gamifying everything, and chasing after the older girls who pretended to be too cool for it, but they were loving it too.
