Dear Gus & Magnus,

Mom worked today and Gus and I didn't feel like getting out in the cold anymore, but Magnus spent a solid three hours by himself working hard and playing in the snow. I set my chair up at the front window, read my book, and drank tea while keeping an eye on Mags. He took advantage of the snow fort Mom and Gus built yesterday while we were at Micah's birthday party. The cutest thing I witness was when Mags saw Peter walking the dogs down the street. He ran and got in the snow fort and hid facedown (because he didn't want to talk). After a few minutes and Peter hadn't walked by yet, he popped his head up and kept an eye on the situation.

Around 2pm, Will joined us to go to the Trojan basketball game. You two couldn't sit still and spent a lot of your time running up and down the steps, but Will was invested in the game the whole time.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

We had a Ridgeway Drive street potluck dinner tonight. The weather was perfect. I'm exhausted from work stress and I haven't been sleeping well lately -- and my back still hurts, despite my taking a break from Orange Theory -- but I enjoyed seeing everyone tonight. And you two loved playing with all the kids, of course. Our street is/neighbors are the best.

I came home from work to find a decent Ridgeway crew hanging out in our front yard, which is always fun to come home to. Bikes, balls, Beyblades. We're so close to fall and I can't wait.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

I left early this morning to catch a flight to Denver, where I'll meet with our water team over the next couple of days to discuss the Garver brand in Colorado and get some footage/photos of our team there. Meanwhile back at the ranch, this photo showed up on our Ridgeway Drive text thread. I'm so thankful you two get to grow up on the same section of the street as lots of other kids with parents we like. I can't wait to see what the recreation of this picture looks like in 15 years.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

Gus's Pokemon-themed birthday party at Allsopp went well this morning, though I didn't get any decent pictures, unfortunately. (I assume someone did.) Nene made him a Charizard Pokemon cake, Yiayia was on hand to help us set up, and Mom put together some serious Pokemon party favor bags for everyone. There were lots of kids playing on the playground and in the creek.

Later, Yiayia came back and hung out with you two so Mom and I could attend the progressive dinner our street hosted -- at Mallory & Brian's, then Christy & Stuart's, then the Ryalls'. It was fun to hang out with our neighbors and see the inside of three houses we'd only previously seen from the outside. Conversational highlights (for me) included: Talking Marriott Bonvoy points with Mr. Steve, talking Enneagram with a few folks who want me to host some kind of conversation on our deck soon, and having my eyes opened to the idea that lots of houses on the street have servants' quarters, which is probably what our basement was at one point, I now realize.

Impromptu street party after work. In addition to Magnus and Martin, the baby group tonight also included Gracie and Eli (both pictured), as well as Alex and Ginny. This street is really going to be rocking in a few years.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

Because COVID cancelled so many of my Leadership Greater Little Rock sessions, I got to tag along with the current class's Military Day, the highlight of which was getting on a blackhawk helicopter for the first time in nearly two decades.

Afterward, we had a low-key neighborhood potluck in the Grummers' front yard for dinner. We set Martin and Magnus up together to eat in a way that reminded me to how a bride & groom sit at a wedding reception.

It's a good night to live on Ridgeway Drive.
