Picked up Murder in Baldur's Gate campaign book and went down a rabbit hole of "What do you mean Wyll's dad knrw the protag of bg1 and 2? What do you mean Ulder Ravengard had the potential of being a Chosen of Bhaal??? What do you mean this all took place when Wyll was 14????? And Larian used NONE OF THAT??????"
So, here's my What If scenario of Ulder Ravengard seeing Abdel Adrian die :)
(TW: For Excessive Gore
i started listening to the bg1 novelization on audiobook and am surprised and delighted to discover abdel adrian is being characterized as a blood pervert
i need to yap about jaheira and durge so tumblr has to listen to me now. [abdel adrian d!urge]
jaheira, the harper, the druid, the ever growing vine that wraps around the throat. she met her first bhaalspawn when he was but a teenager - seventeen and covered in his fathers blood, scared, holding the hand of imoen and never letting go. of course, she had no idea he was a son of blood at first. who would've? he was a child.
she's trapped in a cell, separated from minsc and khalid and abdel and imoen and neera and drizz't. she's alone, tormented, used for vile plant magic. abdel and imoen save her, they wrap her in their arms and cry, they lean on her for comfort. she takes charge, tells them, "fight now, cry later," and leads them out. there's a block in her way. khalids dismembered body lay before her, his brown-green eyes staring up at her. she sobs in anger, a new rage filling her. abdel and imoen stare, watching the woman they've begun to call mother shift into a panther, staring down at the man they once called father. is this their end? will they die here, alone and afraid?
no, jaheira decides. she will save her cubs, her friends, her family. jaheria ravages irenicus, tearing him limb from limb, putting him through the torture she went through.
years, decades later, she's alone again. in this inn, with her harpers, she's back in her spot of leadership - but minsc and drizz't and neera and imoen and abdel are gone. they died long ago, save for minsc. he disappeared. he's gone. he's gone, and jaheira has no one left.
someone shows up at the inn. they have savage eyes, shining with fear and bloodlust, making her think of the son she didn't birth. she listens to them, watches them, studies how they move. something about them is familiar. are they a bhaalspawn, doomed by his sacred knife? are they just as abdel?
she blinks, and now she's by their side in baldur's gate, telling them a tale she's kept so dear to her heart. the tale of abdel adrian, the bhaalspawn with a heart of gold, the shining hero that vanquished sarevok anchev. she holds their hand and kisses their forehead, smoothes their hair down and rubs their shoulder. she is not their mother. they are not her child. in her heart, jaheira knows that she can never truly hold on. one day, soon, she will let go of this child and they will face their greatest enemy alone.
jaheira knows this is how everything must go. it is the law of nature, and who is she to question it?
she sees khalid in their eyes, now. his gentle voice, his trembling hands, his wide grin that he never grew into. she sees abdel in the way they move, how they are hesitant to touch anything for fear of tearing it, how they treat everything as if it is made of glass. neera, in their magic. minsc, in their courage. drizz't, in their passion. imoen, in their blazing fight that powers them.
her family is here. here, in the place where it all ended, her family is starting anew. here, in the child she watches over, her family lives.
A brief dive into: Amelyssan/melissan the blackhearted. Mr.Bhaal's priestess.
This lady right here was the most calculating priestess of bhaal.
She took on the form of a fair, demure woman of plain appearance.
She was really a two faced bitch.
She held a high opinion of herself.
Amelyssan was capable of pretending her greatest desire was to help other people.
In reality she was a psychotic and an irredeemably evil twat.
She served as a deathstalker.
In the years following bhaal's death, she catfished people into thinking she was one of bhaal's children.
She was powerful in both divine and arcane magic, spellcasting that was only increased in power with more bhaalspawn essences she consumed.
Having seen his own death, bhaal came to toril, years before the event and impregnated mortal women of different races. Creating the infamous bhaalspawns.
Their purpose was to eliminate each other, so his highness could return.
Amelyssan's job was to perform rituals that would complete bhaals return.
Guess what she did?.
She sought to gather the power as her own and become a goddess herself. Miss delulu over here.
After bhaal's death, she changed her name to melissan, pretending to be a benefactor who took pity on the bhaalspawns, but was secretly plotting against them.
So when they kill each other, she'll suck their essence out of them.
In order to do that she gathered the remaining bhaalspawns and created the five, promising them powers of demigods when bhaal was resurrected.
Long story short, she was defeated, and the divine essence was stripped and presented to the surviving bhaalspawn (gorion's ward) to do what they wished with it.
