"You know, you're causing a really big commotion, thwacking folks like that in plain daylight.
You're lucky the island's not a schoolground, or else you'd be in big trouble, but there's still people around. Not me, I wasn't there, but word travels from anyone that was.
Everyone's going to think you're crazy psycho now, when they hear the story, you know? Not me, though, I think he deserved it. Who does he think he is, talking to me like that? You might as well have done everyone a favor, hopefully he learns to control his big ugly mouth now.
Why, 'm only thanking you. It'd be nice to get on your good side, because I'd like to keep my face intact. My mama told my papa once that I have a nice, cute little button nose. I wouldn't want some psycho to break it, right?"

"Oh, you're Johnny right? I think I've heard Asa mumbling about you under his breath. You're friend's with the one who has been rumored to have a gun. I really have been meaning to introduce myself to the two of you, I really have. I've just been... Preoccupied."
"I figured people would talk, there doesn't seem to be much privacy on this island, someone was bound to see. I couldn't care less, Ainsworth had it coming."
"Perhaps he'll learn to keep your name along with my brother's name out of his filthy mouth."
<< Abel's face grew sour as Everette was brought up, he enjoyed the thought of Ainsworth about as much as a person would enjoy starting a fly. He didn't call him Ainsworth as a sign of respect, but because his tongue could not feel clean if that name was spoken from it. >>
"It is rather difficult to be on my bad side, and you're one of the more pleasant to talk to. Rest assured, I do not punch without reason and I don't seem to think you'd give me reason. Alas, your button nose is safe."
"My mother taught me that any man who belittles others for his own enlightenment is no man. That cretin is lucky he didn't speak ill on Nancy's name or perhaps he would've gotten more than a broken nose."
<< When Abel brings up Nancy his face softens, almost as if the mere thought of her made flowers grow in the darkest parts of Abel's being. His hands shift from stiff and rigged fists to soft and welcoming as they hung to Abel's side. The subtle shift in his body language showing the subtle comfort Abel was feeling. Then as quickly as his face softened, his eyes hardened. Looking almost as if they could wield daggers, anyone who knew Abel could tell that his mind was on Jude's 'warning'. >>
"I'll tell you this, though I don't know if it means much, I'll be in your corner. You're acquaintance. Just, introduce me to your friend."
"Do we have a deal Johnny?"
<< Abel offers his hand to the boy just shy his age, his face wasn't contorted in some wicked smirk, but a rather genuine smile. He didn't look down on the boy with annoyance or bitterness as some might, but with mutual respect. >>
