Based on the song Worst Case Scenarios by Set It Off

kinda weird that they made abel so scared in the show because abel has so many reasons to be genuinely mad and they just… don’t write him acting on those reasons. his father was murdered by demons. he was killed by cain. he’s the only one left of his immediate family (as in adam, eve, cain and himself) and there’s nobody he can rely on because everyone doesn’t care (basically, the situation with lute).

being head exorcist could be his one chance of finally letting out all of the emotions he’s held back but then the writers decided that yeah no, we’re gonna make him uwu baby boy who’s never fought in his life (this man slaughtered animals)

Abel has incredible potential with his basic story and basic lore, but all this was completely ignored in the name of daddy issues (WHERE COULD THIS COME FROM)

and you correctly noted that this is a man who's very familiar with the concept of murder and death

the reason Adam doesn't appoint Abel as head of the exorcists: he did it once, and Abel slaughtered everyone he'd seen, both sinners and hellborns

Abel redesign! (Click for better quality)

There were certain aspects of his original design that i liked that i kept, and some aspects of another redesign that i used (i think by @/n0cterminal on tiktok) like the crosses on his uniform, the boots, and his hair (loved the hair omg) i just made his hair curly

Anyways here are the design choices i used and why:

Darker skin- he wouldnt... be pale white? He was outside all the time? Working? Also he was in a warmer climate, it makes sense

Hair- curly hair is best for warmer sunnier climates

Pants- i hate that stupid dress thing he wears im so sorry idk whats going on w that, kept the pink tho

Staff- he was a shepherd, the staff also turns into a guitar and scythe, guitar because hes a rock star in his own respect and scythe because it... somewhat mimics the shape of his staff (he needs a weapon, i dont care if hes sweet i wanted to give him a weapon)

Wings- dove wings! Innocence and purity with being first murder victim and gods favorite/the righteous one and all that

Scar- how he died, hes also always got blood dribbling down his face, poor guy
