Sketch Assortment I’ve made of the fauna of the Campanian-aged (approx. 83–74.5 mya) Anacleto Formation of Patagonia, which is famous for the Auca Mahuevo nesting site where hundreds of titanosaurs came to lay their eggs in shallow pits which they dug with their hind feet and left for the hatchlings to fend for themselves.

Reconstruction of the abelisaurid Carnotaurus sastrei from the Late Cretaceous of Patagonia (Argentina). In this drawing, I practiced hatching with a ballpoint pen. Carnotaurus is one of the most famous theropods. He is known for his well-preserved skeleton, which is missing a significant part of the tail and legs below the knees. This dinosaur is easily recognizable by its short upturned muzzle and cone-shaped flattened supraorbital horns, as well as its heavily reduced forelimbs. Impressions of scaly skin have been preserved, on which large 4-5-centimeter tubercles stand out among the small scales. Carnotaurus has appeared in numerous books and films about dinosaurs, including M. Crichton's "The Lost World" and the Disney's "Dinosaur".

Abelisaurus, meaning "Abel's lizard," is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 80 million years ago. It was discovered in the Anacleto Formation of Patagonia, Argentina, and named in 1985 by paleontologists José Bonaparte and Fernando Novas. The genus was named in honor of Roberto Abel, who discovered the type specimen, and the species name, Abelisaurus comahuensis, refers to the Comahue region where the fossil was found.

The only known fossil of Abelisaurus is a partial skull, which lacks the lower jaws and is incomplete on the right side. Despite its fragmentary nature, the skull is estimated to have been over 85 centimeters (33 inches) long. Abelisaurus is considered a member of the Abelisauridae family, which includes other theropods like Carnotaurus. Its skull is characterized by being tall and short in length, a common feature among abelisaurids.

Due to the limited fossil evidence, much about Abelisaurus remains speculative. It is believed to have been a bipedal carnivore, possibly preying on large sauropods and smaller herbivorous dinosaurs. Some scientists suggest it may have hunted in packs, although this behavior is not confirmed. Abelisaurus is significant as the first abelisaurid discovered, and its discovery helped establish the Abelisauridae family.

The Abelisaurs, successful across South America, Africa, India, Madagascar and even some of Europe, this goofy but impressive branch of theropods is by far my favorite group of animals and i just had to work on a lineup of them. from left to right they are:  pycnonemosaurus, carnotaurus, abelisaurus, ekrixinatosaurus, aucasaurus, skorpiovenator, viavenator, quilmesaurus, thanos, ilokelesia, majungasaurus, indosaurus, rajasaurus, rahiolisaurus, arcovenator, genusaurus, chenanisaurus, indosuchus, kryptops, eoabelisaurus, xenotarsosaurus, rugops and tarascosaurus.
