Meme - 5 Things I Don’t Inherently Dislike About Myself!
I was tagged by the-dragongirl, who does in fact sleep sing sometimes (you once woke me up in time for a midterm by sleep singing, much better than an alarm clock). Therefore, in no particular order...
1. I don’t give up easily (or basically ever). I am stubborn enough for several people, and this has served me very well in some cases, like getting Uni people to do things the way I needed them to be done so that I could graduate on time after transferring halfway through my junior year.
2. I read really fast. This may not be evident from my posts here because I am taking all the detailed notes, but I would regularly read novels for classes over my hour long lunch break during Uni.
3. I am a good teacher. My students like me, I explain things well, and I work really hard to listen to them. I’m good with, and enjoy working with, an age group that many people don’t click well with: middle schoolers.
4. I am very facile with picking up languages. I am natively bilingual (French and English), but I also have fairly good Mandarin and Japanese (though I’m definitely more facile in Mandarin), and I’ve studied several other languages to varying degrees. I can follow things in a lot of languages that I don’t know much of at all on specific topics. (This is a really useful skill when working with non-Native English speakers as an English teacher.)
5. I’m a good cook. I really enjoy feeding people, and cooking interesting foods, and people like my food. This is especially an accomplishment because I didn’t learn how to cook until Uni (thanks the-dragongirl). I have been on a bit of an avocado based sauces kick recently, and it is much fun (avocado plus fresh basil plus coconut milk blenderized together is a delicious sauce base, just saying).
And tagging, um, very few people actually follow me at this blog... Um, alexmaybe and caizhidao.
