If you are a student, what do you study?

im a grad student in linguistics! specifically anthropological and sociolinguistics linguistics, so basically the relationship between language and culture, to put it vaguely. i can’t get more specific without giving you too much information so! but also vaguely, i study a specific branch called pragmatics ;)

38. The reason I joined Tumblr?

Basically so I could stop using bookmarks to attempt to keep track of my favorite people here, and pay attention to the new things they posted! I was a creeper anon who never said anything and yet was constantly reading and giggling over things, so during a break from school, I gave in and created my own. It’ll never be All That and marrieddorks‘s style of awesome, but it keeps my thoughts and things together well enough for me… as long as I organize and tag shit lol.

69. Do I have any nicknames? (I always giggle over this pairing as well, even in a professional setting, so don’t feel bad. We’re conditioned to react this way. Damn, society.) 

Hmm… My sig.other calls me Kitten and Kitty (only he’s allowed to call me Kitty), but my family likes to bounce between Kate, Katie, Katie-Bug, and Bugs. My paternal grandmother started a trend of putting name stickers on our cars, and she bought me one that read Katie-Bug. I got a new car, but I haven’t replaced the sticker yet. I need to do that now that I have monies…. *makes sticky note* My youngest aunt, who is like a sister, likes to call me Punky when we’re being sisterly and all confidante-like.

Holy Hell...

It’s been over a week since I opened this site. It’s a miracle. Wow.

I started a new job on Monday, May 25, and it’s a full time position answering customer service calls about Medicaid stuff. Right now, I’m in training, and it’s a helluva lot of information. (I didn’t know I could be so exhausted by sitting in a cubicle and viewing PowerPoints. Seriously.) We’ll be training for another four weeks, and by that time, I’ll be back in a college class full time, too, so I’m going to be way busy.

Just when I was starting to get things figured out with that Petopher fic I was plotting. So we will see how that fits into my new life.

akira-of-the-twilight, I have not forgot about that post you tagged me in, it’s just going to have a wait another few days... or so... I’m really not sure, but I do want to answer it, so I will eventually.

I’m excited, though! :) It means I get to stop worrying about money and the bills piling up, start paying my parents back, and looking at apartments close to work.

So here’s to new friends and new starts!

50: Five random facts about yourself. :P

I’m so sorry! I totally forgot this was here, and apparently it’s been a week to forget about things.

1. I love the outdoors. My family has a private campground I would happily live at if it weren’t for the locals we don’t like.

2. I am the second oldest of 18 grandchildren on my dad’s side, ranging in age from 24 to 10, with one 4yr old great-granddaughter and another on the way.

3. I’m a Taurus, and I definitely fit the sign. An infinitely stubborn procrastinator, but someone who will lay down her life defending those she calls her own.

4. I’ve been writing since I was 13 (I’ll be 24 in May), but I’m a very slow and sporadic writer, so I have a handful of outlines and no finished manuscripts or fics. :(

5. My favorite colors are dark (warm) purple and lime green. And if I ever lose my hair for any reason (cancer has run rampant on both sides of my family), I will demand a wig that is dark purple with lime green highlights.

arrow:how much does your happiness depend on your relationships with others?

*shrug* I guess it depends on the context. Like, if my relationships with all my friends suddenly went sour I'd probably want to die inside but relationships romantically? It'll take me awhile to recover but I would recover all the same and feel... okay. I tend to believe that if my happiness was dependent on other people, especially who I'm dating, that it's emotionally destructive and will hurt me a lot in the end.

heart:talk about your crush

  We've got a list here hold up lemme pull it out (only gonna do some of them tho).

He's super adorable, one of the cutest things on two legs and I just kind of want to pull him in my lap (which would be a comical picture because I'm tiny as shit) and protect him from the world and kiss his face in an almost romantic way.

They've been my friend for ages and I've always kind of had a crush on them. They've just been there for me when I needed somebody and I'm not sure if this is a romantic crush or not but I just want to leave lipstick marks on their cheek and fight anybody who tries to hurt them.

She's tall and very straight and it's pointless to nurture this crush so I tend not to think about it.

She's cute and precious and adorable and it's not a romantic crush just more like a friend crush plus a little bit of hearts and I like being super tactile with her.

 I met her in person like once but she's so adorable and unabashedly into what she likes.

date:do you think age differences are a big deal?

Eh. Depends, really. I purrsonally don't think they're a terribly huge deal as long as both participants are actually well aware of how things are. Like... a 20 year old and a 40 year old, as long as you're happy and it's HEALTHY then go for it. Personally I don't have much of a care either way, though I won't date anybody younger than 17.
