Continued from: There was a faint churning in Jophiel’s stomach. A feeling that was quickly becoming unpleasantly familiar. If any of the other angels he had been speaking with noticed his sudden shift in expression, or were concerned by the sudden way he excused himself, they didn’t say anything. The churning moved higher, becoming a tickling flutter in his throat. He placed a hand on his chest, as if to steady himself, but he already knew it wouldn’t help much. Horrible retching noises pulled themselves from the normally composed archangel’s mouth, and after a few moments he found himself on his knees on the ground. Blissfully, the first petal freed itself from his throat and he could breathe a little clearer. One petal, and then another, and then another, until the winged creature was sweating and panting and feeling near ready to faint. Honestly this had to be the worst illness he could have come down with.
It had seemed unusual to Castiel how Jophiel had acted prior to excusing himself. Still, he was never the best at reading others and none of the other angels had seemed bothered by it, so the angel simply assumed that he was overthinking his brother’s actions. Honestly, Castiel found himself wanting to leave this conversation with the other angels, but simply couldn’t come up with an excuse. Hearing their words of how their father abandoned them was like feeling a blade stabbing a wound that he already had but was trying to block out. After all, who wanted to acknowledge that their father had truly walked out on their family, no matter how dysfunctional of a family it was. Finally, it seemed as though the other angels grew bored of the topic and the conversation ended with them going their own ways.
Without thinking about it, Castiel walked in the direction that the archangel had when he had excused himself. His thoughts were interrupted as he heard the sound of heavy, pained breathing from behind a closed door. He opened the door, without even thinking of knocking like he should have, until it was too late. “Are you alright?”
