Banana Pancakes
"Hey."
Harry hummed, lifting his eyebrows in response but not actually opening his eyes, still mostly asleep as his boyfriend murmured softly to him.
"Wake up," he said softly, kissing Harry's temple and carding his fingers through Harry's curls.
He hugged his pillow closer and curled his body toward Draco (at least toward where he assumed Draco was, since his eyes were still closed). Harry made another sound somewhere between a hum and a grunt, head bumping against Draco's thigh.
Draco laughed, soft and warm and fond, and Harry wanted to sink into the sound, which didn't even make sense but was an accurate depiction of his desires. "I made you breakfast," Draco cajoled.
He opened one eye to take a look at the tray Draco had in his hands.
"Banana pancakes and bacon," he added. "Plus a cup of coffee with cream, three sugars, and a pinch of cinnamon."
He whined at him, pressing his forehead against Draco's thigh and closing his eyes, trying to push down the hot tears that were currently stinging his eyes at the display of the other man's love.
"Hey," Draco said again, scratching his fingers through the short hairs at the base of Harry's neck. "What are you thinking?"
"I love you," Harry murmured, voice muffled by the blanket and Draco's leg.
"I love you too, sweetheart," he replied softly, fondness a tangible thing.
He turned his head and blinked up at him, "I don't feel like I deserve you," he murmured.
Draco laughed, "Don't be silly." He brushed the curls back off of Harry's face, "You deserve all of the nice things," he said, setting the tray down and sliding down in bed so they were lying face to face. "I want to give you all of the nice things," he added.
"I'm really bad at accepting them," Harry whispered because it was true; things like this were always overwhelming.
He smiled at him, "I know. But it's getting easier, isn't it?"
Slowly, Harry nodded, actually thinking about how the process of accepting Draco's love had changed since they'd gotten together. "Yeah," he said softly. "It's still hard sometimes."
"I know," Draco said softly. "I'm not going anywhere. And I plan to keep showing you how much I love you as long as you'll let me."
"Thanks," Harry whispered, leaning his forehead against Draco.
"My pleasure, love," he replied. "My pleasure."

"We accept the kind of love we think we deserve" - unknown
I often ponder how I ended up in various relationships throughout my life. This thought came about because one of my close friends recently commented that the man that I date was "definitely not my type". I laughed when I read her words. Looking back over all the men I had dated from beginning to now, I am not sure that you could state that I even had a "type".
Instead, I think the above statement, holds more true to the type of men I have been with throughout my life at different stages. The men I have chosen to be with says more about what I feel about myself than it does about any "type" that I may look for.
I think if you start at the very beginning, and go through each and every one of them, you could almost see the spiral of my mental health and professional accomplishments by whom I have chosen to be with in my life.
The conclusion of that is the so very important statement that you have to truly find happiness within yourself before you can find happiness with anyone else. I think only then you will find that perfect person that compliments your life in every way.
Dealing with fearful attachment just got easier
“I’ve never bought into that ‘you just know’ notion. Love is a tricky thing. Sometimes it feels like an undeniable force that hits between the eyes and doesn’t let up. Other times, it’s malleable, questionable. It’s truth hidden in and amongst external obstacles and internal circumstances that have formed who you are, what you expect in the world, and how you can accept love."
Aunt Josephine
Prodigal soul
jagged rocky trail rife with lessons in bitter lucidity
relearning how to love myself then others
innocence lost, i’ve traveled this lifelong path back to wholeness
following crumbs of empathy on a once familiar road
my true bearings obscured by guilt, remorse and anger to return home i must forgive myself for all mistakes thus allowing peace into a dormant heart
but the way is shut - it was made by those who are dead and they keep it
ancient barricades buckle then break as the gate is finally forced open
i cannot be denied and will pass through
so this weary grey pilgrim may reach full repentance and preserve precious self-integrity
