I'm cochair with a LGBTQ org and here are some of the tasks we have listed for disabled volunteers.
But here's a sampling of things that can either be done from home or don't require you present at a specific time/location. These are largely tasks that a lot of orgs might not to think to ask for someone to do, so ask a local group you want to help if these are tasks they need! * write image descriptions for social media posts * View webpage through different browser/operating system. Look at all pages and detect any problems * translate webpage or subpages into a different language you are fluent in *Check website photos have alt text enabled, write labels if needed * Subtitle youtube video. make sure to include sounds as well as speech * post flyers for our events wherever you are travelling * Make a stencil to label our equipment with org name & weight limit for chairs. use stencil, or we can have someone else do this part * moderator on our discord * run online events through our discord * assemble items for upcoming event (we will drop off materail to you) Location assessment- Accessibility - visit location one or more times to check for accessibility issues. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VBPEUGv35_BsvHEvoUh6zEpMUREokYRqBuOE6xOFR5M/edit?usp=sharing This one is actually best if multiple people with different disabilities all submit it to the org, because a wheelchair user will pick up different things than someone with sensory processing issues. We've got questions aimed at different groups on the assessment sheet so we get full info on any challenges at a given location we might use.
This is a fantastic list of options, Thank you!
