How are we representing ourselves on soical media, and how is that making other people feel?
“Ever since I was small, I knew that clothes could help you convey who were- but I knew even more- that they could convey who you might want to be.” -Lyn Slater, 65, Accidental Icon

THE FIRST LADY OF FABRIC - Love Her. This woman cracks me up!!. It’s not everyday that you find a 96 year old person still feverishly working away, buzzing around town, or even getting out at all for that matter. But then again, Iris Apfel isn’t your average, everyday senior citizen either.
During her career, Mrs. Apfel has worked with nine different presidents on design projects at the White House - thus inheriting her humorous title as the “First Lady of Fabric”.
Mrs. Apfel, You’re hilarious.
And, as any true New Yorker, she has no problem speaking her mind. Read her #CLASSIC responses on the topic of social media:
“I think it’s too damn nosy. I don’t give a damn what you ate, and I don’t care who you’re sleeping with, if you’re so lucky. It’s an enormous waste of time, but people can’t live without it. They keep pressing the buttons and getting all this ridiculous information…The world is becoming so homogenized.”
“I learned that I have more than 750,000 Instagram followers, which is quite amazing, as I’ve never even gotten an e-mail address. ‘My’ account is run by a woman named Paris who lives in Vienna, and I’m not quite sure where she gets the photos she posts of me. But I’m very happy if I can be of some help, because I think young people today need direction. They have to learn to be themselves, to develop a sense of curiosity, and not to live vicariously through these characters with no personality who they follow on social media.”

Living in New York means I get to shoot famous people I follow on Instagram.❣️Had the most amazing experience of meeting a long-time idol of mine, Lyn Slater, otherwise known as @iconaccidental. Let me tell you, she is even more inspiring in person and I can’t wait to show the whole world her true message. #accidentalicon #lynslater #mashable #newyork (at New York Public Library and Bryant Park)
