We had to take typing in school. I still do this on my work keyboard. I remember we had rows with manual typewriters and one electric one at the end of the row. We would all scramble to get the electric one.
Oh, the good old days of the typewriters! 😁

I'm with Scatterations....learned in high school. I've worked in an office building and in 2 newspapers. Never have heard of anybody typing 125+....That's amazing!
You too were the lucky one for learning it at a young age... Now you have benefited from it your whole life - good on’ya!! 😄

The first time I saw someone typing, rapid-fire style, without looking, I knew I wanted to do that. I do it with the numeric key pad too (to the right of the keys). It's fun to freak people out with it.
Funnily enough, only now that I have looked into this, I have started to pay attention to what my colleagues do - and indeed, some of them do this amazing touch typing... *so envious*! 🤨

Oh lord, the metronome...least said about me & that the better
Wow, they made you type in the tune of a metronome? Scary! 😯

Bravo you all, hated typing but I can use a calculator without looking...go figure.
Another skill I lack... *I’m so lame* 😥

I touch type. Took a summer course before starting college. I was never that fast—maybe 40 women tops.
That’s about my speed too - but it’s not about speed for me, but about a good working positon, so I don’t care much if it is 40 or 60 or more wpm (although it would be quite cool to do >120 wpm, I won’t lie!!)

Wpm not women. Lol

I learned at school, voluntary subject. But lot of czech schools have it as mandatory. I kinda skipped the end of semester, which means I didn't learn the special letters. That means I can type in english but not in czech (hey, this may be the final kick I need to finally learn it) Also, my dysgraphic and dyslectic father makes way less mistakes when touch typing, compared to any other form of writing.
Welcome back to the school bench - learn with me!!! 👍👍

Yes, I touch-type, learned on a typewriter. As someone said above a,s,d,f,g, etc over and over - seemed like a whole day and the keys were covered. Can't remember how fast was too long ago. Did shorthand too!
I guess I’m overtly optimistic in trying to learn it with a pace of 10 minutes per day... Ooops!!

Eventually you see the keyboard in your mind while you type, and then you stop seeing the keyboard and your muscle memory just knows where to move your fingers to make the words you want to appear on the page.
That’s the stage where I would LOVE to get to, someday! Thanks for setting me a goal!

Back in the dark ages of high school, a class called “personal typing” was offered. My mom insisted I take it and good thing I did! I needed to be able to type all those college papers I had to write!
Remember to thank your mom for it; first-class parenting! 👌

@ladytp the 90 wpm speed was necessary for the work I was doing - live transcription of radio and TV news reports
Necessity is the mother of... hard work and skills learning...
