After having a warm fresh breakfast which was made up of eggs and Crispellae , Ezio was given a farewell hug by Marco and his wife but where was Alessia ? Was she embarrassed because of her father spotted them in the secret library sleeping even though it just them falling asleep due to how late it was? Surely it's not that, was it? His internal thoughts stopped when Alessia came out dressed in a lavender blue over dress which strangely made him feel...well he was not sure what he felt when he saw her, running up to him "Sorry Ezio I was finishing cleaning up" she explain awkwardly fiddling with her fingers
"So...um..."
"Yes?"
She handed him something "There warm fresh bread for the road and um about last night?"she said moving a loose strand of her brown hair away from her face as he took the bread from her, it smells good "it was nice to share that secret library with someone trusting that isn't my mother and father" she told him "it was a pleasure to share this secret " he smiled at her friendly just as Marco gave Ezio a pat on his shoulder "Your always welcome to come back here when you are ready to return here" Violetta responded "And hopefully you would come back in time for Alessia's birthday"
"What day?"
"May 26"
Ezio nods as if he accepts the offer even though his trip in Venice may be a long one "oh Ezio please ignore her" Alessia she told him and pause for a bit and then spoke again "well..I guess its a goodbye for now" he frowns but nods "it is, though I hope we can see eachother one day" Ezio meant it and Alessia politely nods "and Ezio , if you do return.. Oh no its cliche and silly.."
Ezio looks at her and gestures her to finish what she had to say "say what you must I won't judge on this silly thing you were about to ask?" taking a deep breathe she told him "if you do come back, if you want to that is... return with a small bouquet of peonies , a pink hue ones specifically during your journey" she told him that which was strange since she never asked anyone for any flowers those colors have a specific meaning behind them. Especially ones that signifies love and romance ..why did Alessia even asked for that color peonies? Ezio raises an eyebrow underneath his hood "hmm va bene I'll see what I can do about finding those peonies for you my friend" he told her, with that they said their goodbyes for now and Ezio walks off.
Ezio first stop was at the Palazzo Medici to meet with Duke Lorenzo de'Medici to let him know about his success of ending the conspirators , Lorenzo was delightful but saddened that the security of Firenze and the Medici name had brought the cost of blood because the Pazzi conspirators as a thank you for his help Lorenzo rewarded Ezio with the Medici cape which conferred on him the freedom around the city of Florence itself "this cape identifies you as a friend of the medici. As long as your wear it, the city guards will be tolerate your actions." he told him "But be warned , it will not grant you immunity" Ezio nods and he had let Lorenzo know that he had to go to Venezia since he still has to take out more conspirators that had snuck their claws in the city itself, After that meeting he went to leonardos only stop once to see his old family palazzo that is thankfully in the hands of the Medici bank and finally he went to Leonardo's to say his goodbyes not knowing that Leonardo already set out to leave in this morning, he knocked on the artist's door, but no one answers , he did it again hoping to get an answer but still no one came to open the door "Leonardo? Leonardo" he knocked again and this time he see two of Leonardo's appientances Agniolo and Innocento where only one there to answer him as Leonardo's workshop is almost empty. Agniolo greeted Ezio "Ciao Ezio! It's been a long time"
"Too long"
"You're wondering where Leonardo is?" one of them asked which Ezio nodded "Mi dispiace, Ezio , but he is gone. Maestro Leonardo was commissioned by a Venetian noble to paint some portraits. He paid for the Maestro to move his entire workshop to Venezia. It's quite an opportunity!" Agniolo told him and ezio blinks in surprise ,Leonardo was heading to Venice as he was,"Grazie Mile friend" and just like that he left the workshop. Of course the gates of the city were still guarded so he inup have to hire courtesans to distract them so can passed throw easily and barrow a horse temporarily no doubt this horse will return to its original owner. It didn't take long when eventually Ezio came across Leonardo, who was trying to repair his wagon but to no avail it seems and no wagoners around to help him. "Leonardo" Ezio spoke making the artist look up and smile to see Ezio coming "Ezio? What luck" Leonardo said exactly "I er., have run a bit of trouble" he gestures to the wagon wheel which Ezio understood what Leonardo was asking so of course he had to help his friend "let me see if I can help" Ezio reply "I know how to fix it, but lack the means to do so" Leonardo was sheepish about that "if you could lift the wagon?-" there no need to asked twice about that, Ezio with all his strength for one man , he was able to lift the wagon and got peek what was in the wagon to see what looks like some sort of glider contraption with it's wings looking like a bat that was strapped on the wagons roof.
"What is thing?" Ezio asked Leonardo "It looks like a giant bat"
"Oh, nothing just an idea that i've been working on Leonardo didn't look up when he answer not even when Ezio lower the wagon back down and when he was finishing up his repairs "I couldn't leave it behind" Ezio look at di Vinci in confusion he was already aware of Leonardo being more than just a painter after all Leonardo did fix his father hidden blade and create a second one also with a hidden poison blade too from the codexes Ezio have found and Leonardo translated for him, surely this contraption has a reason for this artist to work one. "What is it for?" he asked him again and genuine wondering what this Bat looking thing could do, Leonardo seem to pause conjuring if should answer or not "well, I shouldn't really talk about it..." he told him but then as if he couldn't hold it any of his excitement any longer "al diavolo , I can't take it anymore! Ezio, I think I have figured out how to make a man fly!" Ezio's brain went short circuited when he heard Leonardo answer ..to make a man fly? Like the birds? Then Ezio laughs , Leonardo was being ahead of his time apparently "come one, I'll drive " he told him as he got the carriage as a surprise Leonardo because he wasn't aware that Ezio was also going to Venice as well "but I haven't even told you where I'm going" Ezio just smile flicking the rein on the horses the two set off.
Leonardo was excited to Ezio join him to this trip to Venice , in fact he sorta found Ezio so handsome that he is smitten towards Ezio even though he was aware that Ezio is most likely may only have friendship type relationship and ezio wouldn't probably get it if leonardo does tell ezio about his sexuitly, but for the mean time Leonardo couldn't help but notice something is on Ezio mind right now and it's not only the reason why he is going to Venice, "what is on your mind Ezio?" he asked him wondering , Ezio look at him for a bit and shrugs "nothing that concerns you,my friend" he just him though that wasn't entirely a lie , his mind was strangely goes to Alessia a part of him was baffled because it was the first time that his mind didn't go to Cristina that he used to do but now not as much maybe because of his and alessia late night conversation last night..yes that can be it and surely there is no way that he is falling for a girl who is eight years young than. "I'm just thinking when we get to venezia ,I possibly find some codex for you to translate"
After ending that very short conversation they continue riding through the mountains enjoying the quiet ambiance , expect for Leonardo describing to Ezio about Venice beauty and what he could except when they would arrive there "Ah Venezia ,such a beautiful city, so many sources for insperation!" he exclaimed a brightness in his smile was there " , Piazzo San Marco, –"
"Ssh" Ezio shushed Leonardo which surprised both himself and Leonardo "what's wrong?" Leonardo asked him, baffled by the hushed and as Ezio listen, he notice something wasn't right "we aren't alone" he told Leonardo he heard horses galloping , a quick glance back and then quickly he urges the horses of the carriage to gallop and fast that startled the artist "what's happening?" Leonardo sounded concerned, looking behind them "who are they?" Ezio look back briefly , he had recognize the guards on horse back behind them ,their red and black uniforms that had a red cross on the uniform, They were Borgia guards "Rodrigo Borgia's men" he responded
"Why? What do they want with us?"
As if to answer to Leonardo's question,an arrow struck the spot in between ezio and leonardo on the driver part of the carriage "I think they want us dead" Ezio shouted and then to make sure his friend stay safe ,he tell Leonardo to get in the carriage as he tries to make sure that the both of them survive this chase. Then the guards that were chasing them tried jumping on to the carriage but thankfully to leonardo suggestion of Ezio making sharp turns to throw off the borgia guards off of the carriage while also making sure the carriage doesn't roll over to badly injured Leonardo and damage the artist belongings all together, getting rid of the guards off Ezio notice that their were two borgia guards igniting a bridge into flame and Ezio new that he still have to go across that bridge quickly before it collapses in flames. "Hold on tight!" Ezio shouted "this is going to be a bumpy ride" with a harsh snap on the horses reins ,he successfully rode the carriage over the now burning bridge across safely , it was a miracle that the carriage didn't get caught on fire as well as when more Borgia guards tried shooting flaming arrows at them, even that he still successful avoided the fire. Ezio noticed that the guards on horseback were backing way when the carriage got close to a small town with bridge just as Leonardo came out to sit back next him and Ezio gave him the reins no doubt that there were borgia guards hidden “GO Leonardo! They’re here for me not you” He told him as Ezio prepared to jump off the carriage “I’ll catch up with you later!” with that he jumps off the carriage as Leonardo hastily obey and rode across the bridge just as Ezio unsheathe his sword ready to face the armored guards, the swordplay began and with the protective bracer he wore on his left forearm deflect a few many blows he took advantage of a surprise foeman when he saw that his blow didn't land got a fatal blow from Ezio’s sword and he did it with the others as well through how brutal he was being preforming a few counter kills in the process, after dispatching the Borgia guards, panting Ezio did a few looting then dragged the bodies to the roadside, cover them in rocks as a small graves for the guards and then he look at the direction to where the carriage went, then he sent out to meet back with Leonardo in the city of Forlì.
Romaga, Forlì
When Ezio arrives at the docks in Romaga outside the walls of Forlì to meet up with Leonardo he was please to say the least to see leonardo safe no doubt the artist and inventor's items were already on the boat that will take them to Venice “Ezio! Here Over Here!” Leonardo shouted at Ezio when he spotted him at the docks just as just as Ezio walk up to him he only happy to see his friend safe “thank you Ezio you saved my life” he told him which Ezio nod politely “I did what have to be done” he respond “you would have done the same”
Leonardo just shakes his head while chuckling “I doubt it, Bravery is not my strong suit” he explained to him “I owe you my doubt brother” and Ezio then too chuckles say it was “Di Niente” (it’s nothing) as they were walking towards the ferry that they were heading to just as the captain announced in italian that all passengers in to be abroading since the ferry will be leaving soon “that’s our ferry” leonardo pointed out the boat and smile at Ezio “Venezia awaits.”
Just as they were about to board until they were stopped by the captain “where’s your pass?” the captain asked as Leonardo revealed his pass to the Captain but for Ezio, he blinked in surprise, pass? “What pass?” he asked in confusion, he doesn't have a pass because he didn’t realize he needed one to be on the boat , Leonardo was surprised by that “you don’t have a pass?” he must have assumed he had one as well “You cannot enter Venezia without a pass” the Captain told Ezio “who invited you?” unsure how to answer that “Uh no one” Ezio replied sheepishly, Leonardo was about to vouch for ezio but the Captain spoke up again not letting him get a chance to speak up “Basta,no pass no entrance” now that's worrying ,Ezio needed to go to Venice to deal with the templars there “Don’t worry Leonardo” he reassure his friend “I’ll come up with something” but how though during this time he hears a woman shouting “Aiuto! Aiuto!” and see a woman in an elegant dark purple dress looking annoyed and worried that she was stranded on a small land from by a look of it her man rowing away from her in a gondola. Why would he do that? He didn’t know but it was very rude though, the woman turned and looked at Ezio “Don’t you stand there , I need help!” she shouted.
After finding and rowing a gondola at the docks to the woman, Ezio notice when he gotten closer the woman he stops in front of her and offer his hand to her “Madonna” he said as the woman took his hand “Oh, your good” she told him with gratitude in her voices he help her on the gondola “ the ladies must like you” somehow that made Ezio flustered “I wasn’t looking to impress” he responded quickly “Only to help someone in distress” the woman smile as Ezio row them back to the dock “that is WHY you impress, messer ..” “Auditore, but please call me Ezio” he responded and he gotten her name as well Caterina , “Now, Ezio, we must find you suitable reward... Do you have any suggestions?’ Caterina asked him and Ezio though already have the answer for that “There is…perhaps, something you can help me with” the woman was all ears as Ezio explain his situation that he has to venice and he didn’t have a pass to get on the ferry which the Woman, Caterina interrupted him “so this little official wouldn’t let you on, ist that ?” Ezio nods and once they arrive at the docks again stepping out the gondola ,Caterina gave the captain a talking which cause the captain to comply “Yes Singora…right away Singora” the captain stutter as Caterina turns to Ezio “he won’t trouble you anymore” she told him “I..took care of it” Ezio sigh in relief “Thank you Caterina” Caterina herself smile “Perhaps we’ll see eachother other again” she told him “Should you ever find yourself in the city of Forlì, it would be my… pleasure to welcome you~” that last part sounded a bit flirty to Ezio but he was still a gentleman “I look forward to enjoying your hospitality” he responded to her and go to the boat as the captain apologizes to Ezio which he ressaure the captain is alright then went to leonardo side as they started to sail off for venice.
“Be careful Ezio,do you know who that was?” Leonardo ask him “My next conquest “ Ezio replied half jokingly, half serious ,which Leonardo chuckled and shook his head at his friend “I don’t think so Ezio , that’s Caterina Sforza, daughter of the Duca di Milano. Her husband -”
“Husband?”
“ Sì,Her husband is the Lord of Forlì. That woman is as powerful and dangerous as she is young and beautiful.”
Ezio lean back on the boats railing and then..smiles like an idiot
“Sembra come una donna per me”

Thought about having these turned into keychains but i’m not sure however i’ll think about it
Mind sharing some Ezio, Ziio, Shay and Edward Hcs?
Sofia and Claudia got along like sisters (idk I think this might actually be canon).
Ezio encouraged Flavia to be spirited and curious, and sees himself in her and the way she takes care of Marcello. If Ezio had lived to see her to adulthood, he would have been protective but let her choose her own husband.
Ezio wanted to keep his Assassin activities a secret from his children. After he died, Claudia took them in and trained them herself the way their Uncle Mario did for them.
Ziio and Oiá:ner's interactions became stilted after the birth of Ratohnhaké:ton. There was no doubt that the love was there, but Oiá:ner could not quite look at her the same again, and she had to busy herself with finding someone else to groom as successor. They were finally warming up to each other again just a year or so before Ziio died.
Oiá:ner put full trust into Ratohnhaké:ton and his decision-making going forward because she didn't want to drive a wedge between herself and her grandson the way she did with Ziio. And it was the hardest thing she ever had to do.
Modern-day Ziio would have been a leader in the stand-offs against the Canadian government and localities like the Kanehsatà:ke Resistance, which her voice actor Tiio Horn was actually in. My headcanon Ziio has a lot of Tiio Horn's traits, mostly because Tiio Horn's sass that I see in her social media comes through a lot in her voice acting for Ziio.
Ratohnhaké:ton's a BEAST at lacrosse. Man moves like WATER.
Shay died peacefully in a manner similar to Ezio's -- in a garden, watching his family.
Shay most definitely was the black sheep amongst the Templars -- not just because a traitor gets no trust from any side, but because he's Irish and many other Templars were Englishmen who were racist against him. Adéwalé called him Haytham's hunting dog, but the Templars thought the same of him.
Because of this, Shay was that high-achieving Templar the others resented, because they hated the idea of being outdone by someone they felt was lesser. They kept their distance from each other, and his friends in the Order were kept in a tight circle -- Jack Weeks, Gist, and Haytham.
That's also why Cudgel was so fiercely proud of his grandfather later on too -- despite the racism, he was more Templar than any of them.
Also, Lil Cudge seems to me like that kind of guy who in modern day would insist that the Irish were slaves. He seems to me like someone who's very loyal, but but blindly so, and someone who doesn't question tradition.
Edward wanted to raise Haytham as English as possible, but he'd occasionally slip up and curse in Welsh at times. Haytham would grow up with only vague memories of the Welsh part of his heritage.
Edward was a rambunctious lil youngster who didn't need any dogs to herd the sheep. The wolves were scared of HIM lol.
Edward's relationship with Jenny haunts my dreams. What happened in the years between her and Haytham's birth. The people need to know.
I wrote a whole other word vomit post expressing my guess that he didn't want her to get involved in the Assassin world because he wanted to protect his last memory of Caroline. He believed in being honest with your child, so she knew everything about his activities. But given that Caroline had already been disowned because of him and even now that he was a new money gentleman, he was a social pariah because of his pirate past, he wanted Jenny to live a noblewoman's life -- marry a man of good social standing and be a good wife. And although she protested, he always thought he knew what was best for her.
If Jenny knew about her brother's child and ever met him, she honestly would've adored him. Such a polite, well-loved young man. She would've been relieved that he was raised right by his mother's side, away from the Kenway drama. Thank God all he had in common with her side of the family was blood, but if she could have chosen to be blood with any remaining relative of hers, it would have been him.
since ac2 is 15 years old next year, can we just stop for a moment and with all our love to it and the whole Ezio trilogy recognise the fact that it holds so many fucking plotholes than we used to believe? I'm dead serious, I love ACII&ACB very much, but also I've spent like the last five years thinking about many moments that felt weird for me and only recently I became able to name the reasons.
like I can't stress enough the fact that Ezio, alongside his GREAT character development, has literally the worst motivation in the beginning of his journey. Ubi did literally the worst choice in long-term perspective by killing Giovanni and two of four his children. not only they closed themselves a huge path into the more well written world building, especially in terms of assassin's structure and background, but they're also gave Ezio literally zero reasons to be invested in the order's business.
"but the revenge...", nope, hear me out. realistically, Ezio would say "you didn't talk with my father in years, y'all did nothing to prevent his execution even though a few of you probably knew it's going to happen, but you did nothing. so fuck you, I'm taking my mother and Claudia and leave to Spain" to Mario.
because like imagine this 17 yo traumatized as fuck kid, coming to Monteriggioni, the city that used to be his family's homeland, only to see it and family's estate on the edge of destruction. and then his ass of an uncle he barely recalls tells him "well, Ezio, actually you were supposed to be raised as an assassin, so I'll have to turn you into one. oh and by the way you'll have to illuminate the plotters who are also happened to be our ideological opponents and the world evil, all by yourself, because we, the other assassins, would barely help you". like yes, they provided him lessons and information, but like... Mario and the leaders of the fractions were assassins, moreover, they probably were masters long before they made Ezio one. they literally made Ezio do the most work for them, but that's a moment for a little different talk.
the worst part of it that after Giovanni's death the position of the Grand-Master or his acting master was supposed to be surpassed to Mario, and dude literally did nothing for like twenty years until Machiavelli was initiated and took this responsibility on himself until Ezio was named an actual Grand-Master. this man literally handed this shit tone of the work on the literal teens (even by Renaissance standards). so it's kinda not unexpected that he expected Ezio to going the order and doing that job just because, but it's nuts. and the fact that he literally manipulated Ezio, stressed, scared and mentally vulnerable teen, who suddenly became a man and the head of the family, responsible for his traumatized mother and sister, into something Ezio wasn't even prepared for and had no real motivation to is fucking gross, really.
because of this, I really do believe that Giovanni, Federico and Petruccio Auditore should have been imprisoned instead of executed because it would definitely gave a lot of great development for the whole series. and it would definitely gave Ezio a real motivation to stay and fight. because, yet again, realistically in the terms that plot put him in he'd left in a heartbeat right after moving to Monteriggioni. like he already trusted Alberti who he considered his father's friend, and that cost him half of his family. how the fuck he was supposed to trust his own uncle after such betrayal? like no way, I'm sure
