Perseus but if he was a woman
Design wise nothing really changed? Though she had long hair before setting out to go slay Medusa.
In this AU Acrisius still casts Perseus and her mom out
How everything else works out? I'm not too sure lol

Danaë in her tower
Sometimes her prison is an underground chamber (which is probably the version y’all are familiar with) but I like the one with the tower bc it ties her to Rapunzel, ever since I’ve realized their commonalities I’ve been thinking about them lol
I like to think Danaë took up several hobbies to pass the time much like Rapunzel, but unlike Rapunzel, she actually remembers her life before her imprisonment and misses her friends, the girls she’s playing with in the fresco are her cousins Nyctaea and Iphianassa.
perseus forgiving Acrisius is so out of place in Greek mythology, mycene and argos are fucking ground zero for endless revenge cycles, and the second perseus stepped foot into them he completely rejects the very idea.
Danae (Danaë) (1891) by Alexandre Jacques Chantron (French, 1842 – 1918), oil on canvas, 173 cm (68.1 in) x 117.5 cm (46.2 in), Musée des beaux-arts de Rennes
Pseudo-Apollodorus, Bibliotheca 2. 24 - 25 (trans. Aldrich) (Greek mythographer C2nd A.D.) : "Abas [king of Argos] and Aglaia (Aglaea), daughter of Mantineus, had twin sons Akrisios (Acrisius) and Proitos (Proetus). These two were at odds with each other while still in the womb, and when they had grown they warred over the kingdom."
Aglaea pregnant with Acrisius and Proteus be like:
Here is every Greek mythology reference in Sufjan Stevens songs:
(That I've seen, if I missed any, tell me!)
The Only Thing: "Signs and wonders, Perseus aligned with the skull. Slain Medusa, Pegasus alight from us all" & "Should I tear my eyes out now" (could be a reference to the Oedipus King tragedy, where Oedipus' guilt got him to blind himself and his wife/mother put a rope around around neck.)
All of Me Wants All Of You: "In this light you look like Poseidon"
Mystery of Love: "Like Hephaestion who died, Alexander's lover."
John my Beloved: "Icarus, point to the sun"
Carrie and Lowell: "Erebus on my back, my lucky charm"
Olympus: "Bound by Acrisius bronzed from the skylight" & "Seriphos greets us with moments of silence"
A Running Start: "If I align myself with Pisces in a funny way"
Venus: “Go slow, Pandemos fill of me. Guardian goddess, my guard” & “Half shell, half undressed lover of mine" & "Born Aphrogenia, jealousy drink of your wine”
Neptune: "God of freshwater and the sea"
Jupiter: "My father, working night, first shift, eternal light"
Saturn: References Cronos
The Kiss of Niobe: "Please, don't let your children die tonight. Whatever is wrong or right. Let them sleep in peace" (the song also mentions "golden fleece," another Greek mythological element associated with the tale of Jason and the Argonauts)
The Oracle Said Wander: "Cave the Cadmus country soon. Europa's sake he drew. Till the oracle said wander. Safe libation water slew. A serpent near him knew. The dragon's teeth he threw" (basically retells the myth of Cadmus)
Wallowa Lake Monster: "Charybdis in its shallow grave."
Why are Perseus fans bragging about him killing Medusa and feeling more bad over him killing his awful grandfather than her like it's a good thing???
Medusa didn't even do anything to Perseus, he invaded her home and killed her. You can sympathize with his reasons but why do you all hate her so much to the point of glorifying her unprovoked murder?
A Death in Larissa
I taste my blood
My breath has gone
He kneels, in tears
“Grandfather”
I hear the cry
Blood of my blood
Promised destroyer
Son of gold
I hold them fast
I seal them in
My end is sure
My heart is stone
My child endures
My voice has gone
Her voice has gone
I watch her fall
Blood of my blood
My daughter
My end
I taste my tears
Bitter is betrayal
I starve for life
Life’s purpose drowns
I learn they live
He bears stone eyes
My end is sure
I try to flee
The boy returns
He comes for me
He must have come for me
I hear the cry
My grandson weeps
“Grandfather,” chokes he
“A throne from blood
“can fall not to me
“No hate have I
“in my heart for thee”
Fate-sent killer
Finds his mark
Death I deserve
And he, destroyer,
gives it gently
