WHAT IS "H.I.I.T." ALL ABOUT?
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is a high intensity workout whereby a person gives maximum effort during an explosive exercise, usually followed by a short break. This consequently increases your heart rate to a high enough rate to burn body fat in a shorter period of time.
Types of HIIT include: Interval sprints, jumping and press push ups.
HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO YOUTH?
HIIT training (High Intensity Interval Training) is a cardiovascular type of training that will get the young people’s heart racing! Our exercises are explosive yet short, resulting in the quick burning of body fat and an enjoyable time. These exercises are usually made up of Interval sprints, jumping and press push ups, however Active Youth make these fun by incorporating the exercises into games such as tug of war, relay races, obstacle races, and ball games (including football and tag rugby).Through Active Youth young people learn to be aware of their overall fitness levels, teaching them that HIIT releases Endorphins (your body's natural feel good hormone), helps to build stronger muscles and also encourages better posture and body co-ordination.Staff at Active Youth are aware that young people can be reluctant to engage in longer periods of exercise and can find this boring. We have developed a strategy whereby each game/HIIT training session is designed to be fun, inclusive and can be tailored to meet the fitness needs of every individual participant.
