I’ve been listening to this one podcast and it leaves me with so many burning feelings.

it’s about criminal things in the world but idk the only thing it has taught me is that there is no justice in the world.

Anyhow, it finally reached a point where I reached out and send an email to the show’s creators because?? there was just SOMETHING MISSING?

it was an episode of a middle aged lady (in her 40s) and there was a younger guy staying over her place. And he makes a move on her. And she’s like OHHH NO WAY. And then it gets violent. He ends up hitting her in the face, leaving her face swollen and bleeding. She runs out for help: “I’m being assaulted in my own home!!” and the police..........fucking arrest her??

What?

The police determined that SHE was the one who had assaulted the man. And I’m just left here like

like excuse me the fuck??

AND THEN IT IS LITERALLY NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN.

the entire fucking episode just continues on talking about the abuse and mistreatment she faced by the police (I won’t get into it). But they LITERALLY NEVER AGAIN MENTION THE FACT THAT SHE GOT ARRESTED FOR BEING ASSAULTED BC THE POLICE CLAIMED SHE WAS THE ONE DOING THE ASSAULTING. (Unsurprisingly the guy who hit her never showed up to court so her case got dismissed.)

Also something that gets only fleetingly mentioned is that she had a prior, right, which is fine. But what was that prior? It was sodomy, which was illegal in the 1980s. So her first “crime” was having anal sex. And then literally everything bad that happened to her during this whole shitshow was because of these two gross injustices that never again really get discussed. It never is discussed how unjust it was that she was first put in the books for having likely normal consensual sex. And then it is never discussed how AND WHY she was arrested for ???? being assaulted??????????????

So yeah you bet your ass I contacted the podcast creators.

I hope they respond tho bc I just REALLY WANT TO KNOW MORE. You can’t just be like “She was assaulted and looked for help. And then they arrested her bc they thought she was the perpetrator not the victim” and then PRETEND THAT DIDN’T JUST HAPPEN? Idk clearly I am very worked but but like this podcast got me feeling some kind of way.
