They have interesting rose scents, but yeah, some of their more complex scents err on the side of hippie. I've been super curious about Rouge Bunny Rouge and Hi Wildflower's scents. I also just discovered through the power of samples that Diptyques Pilosykos legit smells like fresh figs.

I use Guerlain when I want "perfume-smell," although that's been slightly spoiled by the fact I get migraines and sometimes it's TOO intense, but I use indies like Tocca and Imaginary Authors when I want an actual smell (Imaginary Authors does some lovely and eccentric perfumes even if their premise is a wee bit gimmicky).

I love hermes jardin and wish i was able to spend the money. Demeter does literal scents that you may or may not enjoy their take on (I really like Dirt), Deconstructing Eden has a few more perfume-y scents that still have distinct notes, and my favorite perfumer is probably Solstice Scents. Check em out
i'm responding to this in part so i can keep these suggestions!
aculeus - I've tried a couple of Demeter scents, but they tend to be too weak for me/not really smell like my image of what they're supposed to smell like. and thanks for Solstice - they look really good!
@ophidienne - I actually do like some of the Chanel ones (though one of my perfume troubles in general is that I love old lady scents and am not quite young/fresh-looking enough to "reclaim" them - Chanel tends to edge into that for me [and I love tuberose, which...]). I've seen Imaginary Authors, and they do look cool! it's just the whole buying things thing, especially right now.
@literarymagpie - Hi Wildflower is totally in my bookmarks as a thing to try!
I'd like to put in a good word for Raw Spirit, despite their packaging - I got a sample set and have loved all the ones I've tried, even the ones with sandalwood, which I don't usually like. Also theperfumedcourt.com, which sells descants - I've never actually tried it and use it more as a place to look up things i should buy elsewhere, but if anyone tries it let me know.
Also I really want a good honeysuckle, and hilariously enough I like Bath and Body Works' better than Aerin Lauder.
