How does your OC need to be loved?
Thanks for the tag @serensama and @davrinsleftpectoral, I've been just thinking yesterday that it's been a while since we all took some good old quizzes for our OCs :D
I did this both for Ayanne and Adahlen and they got the same result, even if the answers were pretty different :O
I took the quiz for Adahlen first and I was screaming because the result is perfection *chef's kiss*. The puppy full of love and happiness, for him, is Ayanne of course. She's the "rain falling upon his cheeks" :') She's his source of pure joy, and freshness, the metaphore of the puppy is *so good*, especially for young Ayanne, I'm jumping around. That's what he's always loved about her (uncorrect, he loves literally everything about her), and that's how he likes (need?) to be loved.
Which makes me think... his wife (she's got a name, now, we'll call her Lana, shortened from Lana'lath) does not love him in this way, at all. She's more the "warm quilt" kind of love: quiet, certain, calming (which is also why I'm gonna give her Sylaise's vallaslin - god isn't she the embodiment of that). It does still work for them, especially since by becoming Keeper Adahlen gets definitely a lot of stress and overstimulation (more than he likes to admit he can handle) and having a partner that relaxes him it's a great help. BUT, and I won't hide it, I like to think that the quiz still says the truth. In other circumstances, that’s the kind of love he needs. But yeah, goes without saying, in other circumstances he would still be with Ayanne.
Now, talking about Ayanne…. The “child who loves the rain” kind of love is not what she needs? That’s what she gives, and I would argue this also changes for a grown up Ayanne (so when she’s with Davrin). It’s still a light and joyous kind of love, but it’s got less explosive energy - because, hey, age - and the puppy metaphor doesn’t work anymore. And about what she needs? I’ve often said she looks for somebody who takes care of her. In the sense that she gets to be wild and careless even more because she knows there’s somebody out there who’s happy to get her, who’s gonna be her parachute. This hasn’t changed for her during the years. What did change, though, is that with Davrin she’s got someone who joins her in her wildnesses instead of just cheering her from afar. And that, now, means a lot to her.
