I don't think it's just me, but when I was younger, whenever I hooked up with somebody (casual or not) I absolutely dreaded the day after, dying of insecurity about whether the other person meant whatever happened the night before or not (in my case the insecurity was often well placed lol).

And I don't know, one day I thought about Ayanne and Adahlen on the morning after, and how darn cute and awkward and torn and then happy they would be, and I immediately knew I just had to draw this :')

Family

So, Ayanne and Davrin won't officially get married (btw apparently Dalish call it "bonding"), but sometimes a simple gesture can count as much if not even more :)

We don't know for sure why Davrin dropped his last name, but I embrace the common headcanon he did it because he didn't felt deserving after leaving his clan (ç_ç). In this scenario, the idea that he might finally decide to use a last name again, and chooses Rook's, just makes me wanna cry with joy.

Let's all pretend an anon sent me this prompt for the Rook&partner's asks (I got real asks from real people, but this was the first headcanon that came to my mind):

5. Do they have different cultural backgrounds (e.g. a Rook who was raised in Antiva with Harding who was raised in Ferelden)? If so, do they ever share parts of their culture with each other? If they're similar, how do they celebrate their culture together?

I like to think there are some cross-clan songs among Dalish (like children songs, in this case), and I totally picture Ayanne, Bellara and/or Davrin to hum them randomly sometimes. If the song is catchy enough, the others would join, more or less willingly ;)

Rook and Bellara are particularly satisfied when they succeed in making Davrin sing <3

The morning after, it takes Davrin half a second to understand what the dream was about.

Davrin: So… do you want us to kiss? Ayanne: What? Davrin: Adahlen and I… I know you've been fantasizing about the three of us. Ayanne: O__O How do you know?? Davrin: *chuckles* You've been quite obvious… Ayanne: Oh Creators… It's just a fantasy, don't worry about it. Davrin: I'm not worried. You can invite him. Ayanne: Davrin, no, it's just — Davrin: Imagine four hands all over you… Ayanne: Davrin!! NO.

BONUS: Ok, let's be serious, Ayanne really doesn't need to add another layer to her already multi-faceted relationship with Adahlen. So this is gonna stay a fantasy. But would Davrin endlessly tease her about it? Oh, you can bet he will :)
