does anyone else ever think about how the only clear photo we have of neopets co-creator adam powell is of him flicking the bird because he had to prove his identity to the r/neopets discord while everyone was roasting him and donna for becoming crypto shills or is it just me

look i love the 1975 as much as the rest of y'all but can we all stop pretending to believe that they can't talk about the powell situation?

i genuinely hope there is a real, substantial reason they haven't said anything at all but they could literally tweet "we have stopped working with adam powell" and that would be miles better than what they've said (more like what they haven't said really) and i am fairly certain as someone familiar with slander/libel laws that such a statement would not give them legal trouble.

given how much random stuff matty posts on instagram and formerly twitter, it's glaringly obvious that they are consciously deciding not to say anything. he posts about ongoing international legal cases for amnesty international, so you'd think he could say something, anything, about this instead of weird evasive dms from jamie oborne.

i'm not usually one to call for public statements on such matters, as i do believe in boundaries between celebrities and fans, but their total silence aside from shady, unofficial DMs and hollow platitudes that would not be public if the recipients did not choose to share them is incredibly disappointing. especially as a band (particularly matty) that posits themselves as focused on social issues.
