Rating Train Stations by Aesthetics (and other various factors: part 5)
- a vogelmeister analysis-
Union Station (DC)- 8/10. Starting off with another union station and this time it’s in DC! There are three flags out the front just in case you forgot this is America, and the flagpoles are nice. By the photos of the interior I look at it seems to get lots and lots of natural light and I like that. Also the main hall reminds me of the kings cross scene in Harry Potter.
Haarlem- 6/10. She makes me sad, idk, the vibes here are slightly off. Kinda looks like a British private school.
Budapest- 7/10: I wanna say nice things about this because it’s nice but it’s nothing I haven’t seen before so idk fam. I like the giant window thing.
Lisbon- 8/10. It’s pretty and very Portuguese but it feels kind of like something is missing. But I like the vibes from this one.
Groningen- 9/10. This was voted the most beautiful station in the Netherlands and I see why. She’s very nice, kinda in the same way Amsterdam is which is why I like it. There is a Dutch flag so you are reminded where you are, which I for one find very helpful.
Auckland- 4/10. Like Wellington it looks like a US municipal building but much much worse
Toronto- 6/10. Can’t explain it but there’s no flavour here. Also I’d get lost here so... yoink.
Addison Road- 7/10. I was told to do any station on the silver line and low and behold I found this one. And ngl it’s kinda cute although gives me bus stop vibes.
Town Hall (Sydney)- 0/10. From the top she looks unassuming with her cool little glass roof but oh noooo. Not only is she extremely ugly but I can guarantee you that every person in Sydney has been personally victimised by this station at least once in their life.
Baku- 10/10. She’s so FUCKING PRETTY. she looks like a castle. I hate that I love this. I hate that I’m giving it a perfect score. But I love it! AHHHHHH
