while in this post I've mentioned that Adelinde didn't know Crepus was connected to the Fatui and Delusions, today I'm rethinking this thought, because I've remembered the talk maids had in the game.
Adelinde might be looking sweet and mostly harmless, but I bet she has a couple of tricks on her. she had figured out Crepus' obsession with power, his sheer desperation for an ability to protect his loved ones. she had seen signs. she had seen blood stains, clothes. she had dotted down every strange absence.
so, when one night she enters the study and sees Crepus, hands bloody and hair disheveled, Adelinde only smiles and offers to help with the cleaning. Crepus glares at her, suspicious, Delusion whispering in his head things he refuses to do.
"sure, Addie," he replies. "you truly are an angel."
she whisks his dirty clothes and gloves away, leaving Crepus in his study to ponder on the possible past of his headmaid. he knew she was falsely accused of crime, but he never dug deep, being content with how well she takes care of his kids and the manor. she was stern, more than so, and in a way, scarier than Crepus could pin down — the fierce, quiet power he never could level with; Diluc's mother had the same one.
he thinks if he should check her past. just in case.
the next time Adelinde walks on him, his chains are strangling the nuisance, connected to Eroch's network. Adelinde watches and says there's a place in the cellar where they could get rid of the body.
Crepus is mesmerised and horrified at the same time. he decides against checking her past. he knew he'd discover things he wouldn't be able to recover from.
