i hate when fanfics (or anyone in general) mistake IQ for actual intelligence. i'm in a gifted class and iirc i have an iq that's like ~130-140, but i'm by no means an extremely smart person and there are a lot of really dumb people in my gifted class. just because i scored well on a test when i was younger doesn't mean i'm some sort of supergenius. (sorry for the rant but it really makes me angry)

I've always done exceptionally well on standardized tests my whole life, and while that's great and it measures a certain kind of intelligence, it doesn't reflect how "smart" I am. 

Some people suck at taking tests.  Some people rock at them.  It doesn't necessarily mean that one group is smarter than another.

I don't really like IQ tests because they've historically been used to "justify" that certain racial groups are less intelligent than others.  It's very easy to insert a cultural bias into any standardized test.
