i read your adhd jj fic and aa it makes me very happy to know other people have that hc too!! do you have any specific hcs about it? (plus emily or elle, either way) :)

hey! i definitely have a lot of thoughts about adhd JJ and i’d love to talk more about her. I’m so glad that you loved “A Race To The Shower” because it was one of my favorite OSs to write. JJ definitely has Emily keep lists for her and them so that they don’t forget things.

Okay, so I wanna talk about JJ’s hyperfixations. One of them that I believe many of us agree on is butterflies. They were anchors for her throughout her life and helped her feel connected to Ros. However, I feel like she also has other hyperfixations that are more fluid than butterflies. Sometimes it’s sports, and when they’re out of season, she shifts to other things. I see one of her hyperfixations being cars (something that she would definitely rope Tara into talking to her about). But Emily loves to listen JJ talk about her hyperfixations and is always there to kind of help JJ incorporate the interest a little more into her life. For example, a little car statue here, a few books and guides on refurbishing cars there. But, most importantly, they have IU day. (no, not the university) It is “Interest Update Day” that happens ideally every month, but also whenever JJ declares that she would like to set one. So basically what the premise is, is that they sit down after lunch and spend the rest of the day kind of going over where JJ is on her special interests/hyperfixations. JJ will let Emily know what she is slipping out of being interested in and what her mind is turning to. Then they spend the rest of the day with JJ just talking about what she loves about her new interest with Emily listening and coming up with ways that they can incorporate into their daily lives. She even once got a vintage car alarm clock because JJ fell in love with that model and the way that the alarm rang the car’s horn in the morning. (Emily may have initially thought the alarm was a little childish, but seeing the pure infatuation and love for it in JJ’s eyes made that belief seem miniscule.) She grew to love it too, and when JJ slipped out of her car hyperfixation, she neatly tucked it away into JJ’s nightstand so that her girlfriend could access it whenever she wanted to look at or use again.  Interest Update Day is a day that both of them looked forward too because it was a day where JJ could talk unabashedly about whatever her heart desired, knowing that she would have Emily’s full attention. Emily just loved to listen to the stories and facts and see the way that it made JJ so happy. Everyone in the BAU also came to eventually learn about IU day. Penelope and Morgan would remind JJ to maybe think about calling for one if they noticed her interests flipping. They would buy and reccomend her products that go along with her interests. She and Reid had lengthy conversations where he told her technical things about whatever topic she brought to him. Hotch was always there to silently gauge and tip off Emily whenever he saw JJ begin to turn to a new interest. Rossi was just there to encourage and support her. Sooo, yeah. IU day. :)

I think jj and elle really like to read together in their free time. They'll light a candle or two and cuddle up on the couch. Sometimes, elle will notice jj getting frustrated because she can't focus on her book. She'll set her own book down and gently take jjs and start to read it to her. JJ has a lot easier time of focusing when it's elle's voice. Sometimes elle teases jj about finding her selections boring, but really she loves reading to her

i love this - JJ hearing Elle’s voice soothes her and helps her focus! definitely!

I can imagine after a long day, JJ is like antsy and wants to like run around but maybe it’s raining so she and Elle can’t play soccer so they decide to read instead - JJ sits and just stares at the words not reading them and she starts like squinting or holding to book closer to see if that would help.

Elle notices this and slowly bookmarks her own book, putting it down and reaching to grab JJ’s.

“What paragraph are you on?” She’d ask. JJ would show her and Elle would start reading.

JJ would slowly be able to focus on the boom because she loves Elle’s voice. Elle loves reading to JJ on days like this, and when JJ sighs happily and starts tapping rhythmically on Elle’s hipbone - it makes Elle smile, knowing that JJ is letting go and allowing herself to fidget and relax.

Kinda turned this into an adhd jj one because it gave me that vibe - sorry if that wasn’t the intention! Going to bed now but keep sending headcannons for tomorrow!

OOH since i’m in a Jelle mood rn i’ll do this one!

I think Elle definitely tries to help JJ get a lot of her energy out...like she’ll go out and play soccer with JJ but since Elle is so bad she ends up just chasing JJ around the field and JJ finds it HILARIOUS and it helps a lot.

Sometimes Elle walks into JJ’s office and sees her spinning slightly on her desk chair instead of doing her reports, so they figured out that if Elle sits on JJ’s desk and allowed JJ to play with her hand or her bracelet it helps JJ finish her reports.

Elle freaks out when police officers are rude to JJ, especially about things that the blonde can’t control. Sometimes during conversations JJ has difficulty focusing on what is being said so she visibly seems distracted. Every once in a while a cop is rude to her about it, saying something like “oh I’m sorry am i boring you?” or “hello i’m talking to you” and Elle FLIPS

She immediately takes JJ’s hand and goes “Watch your mouth or I’ll have our technical analyst dig up SO much dirt on you that I’ll have no choice but to arrest you”. It kind of freaks out the cop but it makes JJ smile thankfully and that’s all Elle cares about.

Hi yes! I love the idea of adhd!JJ and Alex so i’ll add a few more headcannons with them! Like I said I think JJ also reminds Alex of Ethan so this is definitely a more parent/child dynamic.

Alex always makes sure that JJ gets her reports done, because she knows that if she doesn’t check on her, JJ and Morgan will start playing basketball with crumpled paper and a trash can.

I like to think that when Alex catches JJ losing focus, it goes a little like this.

^ to go with the gif, I think JJ always feels really guilty and apologizes a lot when Alex catches her, because she doesn’t want to let her down, but Alex always reassures her and tells her that it’s alright and she just wants to help her get back on track.

JJ really looks up to Alex, and Alex really cares about JJ’s wellbeing, so I think they have a really good dynamic. Alex will remind JJ to take her medication (if she’s on any).

I think Alex also will carry around a fidget toy for JJ, I bet when Alex starts on the team and immediately notices, she buys one for JJ just to hold on to for when the blonde needs it.

I’d like to think that if Alex notices that JJ needs to fidget, which is probably shown by JJ tapping the table repeatedly, she takes her hand and hands her the toy and JJ looks all thankful at her.
