How To Successfully ADHD-Adult pro-tip:
Pay your bills the moment you get them. Like open the envelope and pay it right then and there. Even if you can't pay the whole thing, at least make a payment on it. Right there, immediately. Like so literally. Hold it in one hand, pull your phone out with your other hand, and Immediately Pay That Shit (or some of it.) While it's still in your hand for the first time.
Do not set it down. Do not do another task. Do not "come back to it later." Pay that thing right goddamn now.
If you don't, you're going to put it down on the counter. Before the end of the day it's gonna be in the way, so it'll get moved to the already-cramped microwave cart you use as a sidetable. Because space is tight, your spouse will put a tissue box on top of it. TADA! Your object permanence issues will now completely erase it from existence until next month, when you get to open a $325.21 utility bill.

listen to me, autistics
putting something to a specific rythym/melody/pattern makes it much easier to remember.
that's probably why a lot of people love shakespeare so much, and why brands have jingles for their phone numbers.
when i was little i literally memorized my mothers phone number by learning it to a little melody in my head.
ADHD TIP - Time yourself doing tasks. It helps in many ways.
- First way that helped me is I realized I do tasks much quicker than I think I do. Like a shower always felt like it took an hour. Turns out shower and getting ready after only took me 18 minutes.
- Second way that helps is my therapist told me people with ADHD need more play in their lives. So now that I keep track of how long it takes me to do tasks I challenge myself to try to finish the task quicker then i did before.
- Third way that it helped me is that now when I get overwhelmed with something I have to do at a certain time (for instance I work at 3:00 and start panicking at 1:00 and don’t think i should do anything cause I don’t wanna get distracted and miss work) i know that certain tasks will only take a certain amount of time and I will be able to complete them in time.
i’m all for purposefully reusable cups but also so for buying a sweet tea in a plastic bottle then washing that bottle or cleaning out my single use things and reusing them and then when i inevitably get it gross i don’t feel that bad throwing it out And the single use plastic got used more than once #adhdhack
ADHD tip: associate things that you NEED to do daily with stuff you never forget, then make it as easy as possible for yourself .
One thing I never forget to do is put my retainers in before I sleep, because my teeth ache if I don't.
I need to take thyroid medication daily and it's really important I don't forget, if I take it in the mornings with my ADHD meds, I'll forget to take them on weekends, or days I stay home from school. That's 5/7 days a week at the maximum for me. (Not enough...)
Luckily I can take my meds in the evening, but if I only remember to take them as I'm falling asleep, I'll ignore it if I have to get out of bed to get them.
Because of that, I tied a small makeup bag to my bed, easily reachable, even while lying down before sleep.
That way, I could take my meds the second I remembered, and wouldn't have to worry about getting up to find them.
Even then it was a little hard to remember, so I started keeping my retainers in that little bag, that way my hand would always touch my medication sheets while getting my retainer, reminding me to take them every night.
It's okay to work with your most basic unchanging routines (even if the only reliable part of your day is just the fact you spend a lot of time in bed like I do 😳)
Adhd tip:
Keep your deodorant next to your medicine and put it on at the same time you take your meds. Makes it easier to remember and easy to tell whether or not you remembered to take them
