Summary: MC is persuaded by a mysterious stall-holder at the market to purchase an unknown potion but unbeknownst to her, the potion has some adorable yet questionable side effects.
Your eyes fluttered open gently as you stirred, adjusting to the soft light of morning before drinking in your surroundings. The cushy bed beneath you was endlessly warm and you wanted nothing more than to bury your face back into the silky sheets to soothe the strange throbbing in your head. You began to stretch slowly in a way that felt unfamiliar, but you brushed it off as nothing as soon as you caught sight of Saeyoung snoozing peacefully beside you. His flame-coloured mop of curls looked messier than ever, but he still looked charming and handsome without trying. He let out some gentle snores before stirring slightly.
He had been slaving away with coding and research 24/7 since the agency had gifted him with another hefty decryption task which would take a lot of time and effort to complete .The pressure coming from Vanderwood recently to do various jobs only further strained your time spent with Saeyoung. At least your time with him right now was undisturbed. Seeing him fast asleep with the innocence of an infant plastered on his face made your heart swell with pure adoration, giving you the urge to pinched his slightly flushed cheeks but you restrained yourself, as disturbing such a wonderful man in his well-earned sleep seemed unfair to say the least.
Your eyes drifted reluctantly away from your slumbering boyfriend to instead take in the rest of your shared bedroom which appeared to be vaguely larger than normal . The pounding in your head began to fade slightly but you still didn’t understand what caused it in the first place. You continued to search your surroundings but in an instant you were robbed of all coherent thought. Your eyes landed on the long mirror on the wall beside your bed. A small ginger cat sat in place of your human reflection. No, no, no!
With the realisation of your current situation, you jumped deftly from the comfort of the bed onto the plush rug. Your voice seemed to fail you as you attempted a panicked cry, instead releasing the tiniest mew. Making sense of your new body was an impossible task but calming our frantic heart proved even more unachievable as your sensitive ears picked up the the rustling of the bed sheets behind you.
Saeyoung had evidently been awoken by your helpless cry and was now rubbing his eyes sleepily. His large hand reached over to the warm space you had previously been laying in, searching for your body to hold close to his own.
”Y/N?” he called out through a yawn. Staggering aimlessly out of bed, he blearily threw a glance in your direction. There was no time to escape or explain your predicament now, as he began to approach you with a goofy grin that stretched from ear to ear.
His amber eyes had a mischievous glint in them and his lips twisted into an even more devious grin than before, as he lowered himself to your level before scooping your warm furry form into his arms, cradling you like a baby.
“Hey there, little cutie!” he chirped, his voice still dripping with the low huskiness of sleep. He pressed a small kiss to your head before strolling into the living room of the spacious bunker.
”Y/N? Honey, look what I found!” He beamed down at you excitedly, still not aware that you were Y/N. You were held firmly in his arms as he continued to search but you needed to tell him what was wrong, you certainly didn’t need him treating you like Elizabeth the 3rd. Meows and mewls escaped you as you desperately pawed at his face, causing him to giggle instead of understand you.
“You want to play that bad?” He chuckled before spinning you both around in circles, making you both giddy but for different reasons.
It then struck him that he hadn’t fed you, and that you must have been starving. You were gently placed on top of the counter and he began rummaging through the cupboards and fridge for something other than Honey Budda Chips or PHD Pepper. As he searched for something edible for you, your desperate eyes landed on the two miniature bottles you had recently bought from a strange market. You had already drank the contents of one the night before. It suddenly hit you that the mysterious drink was probably the cause of your adorable problem.
You began to meow at him frantically and loudly, circling around the bottle that hadn’t been emptied. Pawing at the bottle and looking at Saeyoung, you internally pleaded for him to understand. His eyes narrowed confusedly at you before he realised that you wanted him the pick up the bottle and read it. Relief flooded your mind when he began to pour the liquid into a small bowl for you, before placing it under your nose. Containing his laughter was extremely difficult as he began to piece together what was going on, whilst you eagerly lapped up the potion, hoping dearly that it would reverse the effects of the first one like the label promised.
After a minute or so, Saeyoung noticed that you seemed a lot more sluggish, fatigue clearly beginning to set in as a result of the potion. When you had finished your drink, you turned around to see your knight in shining armour approaching you with a soft blanket. The warmth of the blanket enveloped you as he bundled you up like a sleeping baby, before creeping back into your shared bedroom with you in tow. The soothing rhythm of his heartbeat next to you began to soothe you into a deep slumber, you no longer worried about what was going to happen when you woke up, you trusted Saeyoung and knew he would find a way to help you always. Your eyes finally drifted shut as he watched you calmly.
You were placed gently on the bed, still swaddled in the blanket.
“Sleep tight, my cute princess. You’ll be all better when you wake up.” He murmured lovingly at you before embracing you.
When you finally regained consciousness, Saeyoung’s saffron eyes were inches from yours, crinkling with happiness to see you finally awake and back to normal.
“Saeyoung! You did it!” You cried, freeing your arms from the blanket to throw them around him. Peppering your face in kisses, he squeezed you back and chuckled at your cuteness.
“Good morning to you too, my cute kitty!” He chirped giving you one last kiss on your cheek as you blinked. Realising hat he had said, your cheeks began to heat up in embarrassment. Your bright red complexion earned another laugh out of him as you turned away from him.
“Very funny. Not!” You pouted, feigning a sulk. His arms snaked around your waist from behind and he easily lifted you into his lap, giggling again at your antics.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’ll lay off on the teasing for now, but what did you think would happen if you drank some mysterious potion like that? You’re so silly. I love you.” He purred sweetly into your hair.
“I love you too...I guess. Even though you’re a bully.” You giggled.
“Would you accept a gift from this ‘bully’?” Reaching behind himself, he pulled out a plastic bag and placed it in your lap.
“Close your eyes.” You complied and felt him slide something onto your head, behind your ears. Some kind of headband? The feeling of something smooth then snaked around your neck.
“Can I look yet?” You whine, already knowing that he’s up to not good.
“You can look!” He smiled at you. When you opened your eyes, you were greeted with the sight of his ”gift” in the mirror. A pair of cat ears matching your hair was placed neatly atop your head and around your neck was a pink velvet choker with a golden bell.
”I take it back, I don’t love you!” You remarked, grabbing a pillow from behind you and throwing it at his goofy grin.
“Whatever you say, my cute kitten!” He laughed heartily.
