#admission average

Hi, I am grade 11 right now and it's close to exams for first sem and I'm getting 58 in chem and 68 in bio. I can get my chem mark to maybe 64 max but It's still a bad mark. I want to do biochem and get a bachelor of science. I need a 80+ average to get in. I don't know if I will get into York with these marks. Does it matter even if it's only grd 11 or should I start to worry? In other classes I'm used to being a straight A student so this is really hard for me.

Honestly, I wouldn’t start worrying about university just yet. If you have the opportunity to bring up your marks in grade 12 then just focus on doing that. IMO, those marks (grade 12U marks) are more important as they act as prerequisites to courses you’ll have to do in first year BSc and will count towards your admission average.

When York bio says mid 70's to low 80's do they actually approve people with 75's? Or do you need 80

If they say mid 70s to low 80s, it most likely means each year intake is different. I’d guess 75 would be considered the lowest grades to be accepted (“mid 70s”) but again, we’re not working for York’s admission office so please don’t take my word for it.

Ya! im going to schulich.. but i called york and she seemed pretty stern with her voice.. LOL

Haha, to be honest, since your average is pretty high, I wouldn’t be that worried about it dropping a bit, but they do get much stricter if your average was say, a 90 and it dropped to an 88 (Schulich-specific numbers). From what I’ve seen and heard last year, as long as you stay above the 90 mark you should be pretty safe.

hi! so i called york asking about maintaining offer and they said I had to maintain my average i got in with.. I got in with a 96.. and it was pretty hard to maintain that during exams. I think my offer is going to get revoked :'(

Depending on how much you drop, you should be safe (any chance you’re a Schulich kid?) I got in with a 95.5, but my final average ended up being 94 and I was fine, so you shouldn’t have too much of a problem.

I've scoured the website but I can't find the admission average. what do I need to maintain to not lose my offer? I'm interested in the kine program.

It was actually the first question in our FAQs, not to worry though because I just checked and the link’s not working. 

For Kinesiology you need a mid-70s average, you can check here.

I applied for the BA in psychology, and I'm just freaking out because I haven't gotten an acceptance yet... Is there a way I can find out the cutoff? Is a 73% average too low? :(

You need a mid 70 for Psychology, so from my understanding mid is about 75% and over.

Could an applicant get in with a 60 average?

Highly doubt it.

Note: Yeah, unfortunately that's pretty low :/ You could always do summer school or a couple years of college first. You'd get some transfer credits in some cases!
