Basically the Adobe Animate situation in a nutshell.

Context: If you're familiar with Adobe Animate, it was originally going to be shut down in March 1st as recently announced. However, the backlash got so BIGGER (and even Mutahar covered a video on it) that it actually caused Adobe to reverse their decision as of result.

I don't have Adobe Animate (I have GIMP, FlipaClip and IbisPaint X), but this alongside killing Flash is their BIGGEST mistake. But, if they actually discontinued Flash, it can cost animators and studios so HARD, and I can see something similar to what The Crew was shut down in 2024 which caused Stop Killing Games to take off (or a lawsuit by animators and big studios who worked on cartoons and shows with the program used). Luckily, this never happened thanks to this news.

As Adobe realized they've messed up, they made it clear that they will not remove or discontinue access to Adobe Animate. While they will stop adding new features to it, they will provide ongoing security and bug fixes to Adobe Animate. It will continue to be available for newbie and existing animators (including cartoon shows and studios that use it).

While Adobe Animate might not shut down as they've recently announced, always remember to backup your projects first and have alternative programs just in case. First things first, though.

My first half-decent attempt at animation. I can’t figure out how to adjust the speed yet but hopefully that will come soon. So for now enjoy a gif me frantically winking. Since I’m used to adding my signature toward the end of the project, I forgot to put it in the first frame (which would then get copied over into every frame that followed). But I had to put it somewhere so I added it in the last one since I don’t know if I can copy it into every frame (I did try). And drawing them all in individually made it look creepy and wiggly. So enjoy that little blip as well.

working on the next shot for bunbot!! im gonna force myself to get it done by next week (color, mograph, compositing...all that fun stuff). ive also been storyboarding some new sequences for the short too. :>
