Now I feel like I'm not in the right mood at all because Peugeot Sport is in a rough patch in their WEC seasons (it's always has been since 2022).
I'm just really annoyed, because well, as a Peugeot fan myself, the brand sometimes screws up when it comes to racing here, that's what annoys me.
Recently despite they took a pole in Spa, they just struggle in races and even at Le Mans (especially the qualifying recently). Not to mention it's honestly ridiculous how they got screwed unfairly only for Le Mans which is what pisses me off. They struggle in both Test Day and FP1, and this shit never changes when it happened in both Qualifying and Hyperpole. This is gonna be similar to both 2024 and last year's Le Mans races they've struggled.
Like, almost at DEAD LAST which absolutely, again, pisses me off. Yes, nerfed, I get that's its because it's a "new car" when that's technically an updated 9X8 with an added wing when they got NERFED even more which is honestly ridiculous.
Even so, they were also screwed due to regulation changes before their 2023 season.
And let's be real, Peugeot is basically not some losing team that "throw a towel" as they can't be remembered for failure. They're known for their successful history in motorsports such as rallying and so on (although their F1 engine wasn't successful) since 1981. Without them, history wouldn't be a thing for them.
Also, the hate against the team is honestly unfair too. Like they get criticized just because they struggle. I mean, yes that's fair, but I'd blame Stellantis and Peugeot's marketing team (all three of them) instead of Peugeot because they just ruined the program and screwed the team. ACO's arguably the blame too as they changed the regulations. No seriously.
And secondly, they're working on a new car for the 2027 season, because the 9X8 has been flawed since the beginning and that's why they wanted to be better off with their new car, and it's seriously the time for Peugeot to accept that the 9X8 needs to be replaced.
That's nothing new, they did use the 307 WRC in 2004 instead of the 206 and they messed up. Even Marcus Grönholm is fed up with the 307 that he probably preferred the 206 WRC. I probably would be fed up too if I was him.
I DO wish they could've just used the concept based on the one from 2019 which could've been better in the future. Or better yet, they could've had a partnership with Rebellion had they (Rebellion) never ceased their operations in 2020.
Honestly, if I for one, was and ran Peugeot, I'd have the guts to actually take a rightfully racing concept with a spoiler in the very beginning of the WEC program. They will hire Dassault for the design, remove the X for the new car's name, and hire talented and experienced drivers.
And I could probably fire only the marketing team too, yeah for real. They could mess it up.
Perhaps that would be probably good if I was in charge, actually did better than the today's actual WEC program they're running. I probably would also bring a new board to put a LOT of money for the program as well for success.
Because my god, Peugeot isn't ran by some losers here. Stellantis just SCREW up things here, and even Peugeot Sport.
