Monday, September 21

First meeting. While the witches of Oxford celebrate Mabon, Matthew Clairmont tracks down Diana in the Bodleian library and introduces himself. He then, unseen, follows her home and gains access her room through a window. He’s looking for Asmole 782, but can’t find it. Instead he watches a sleeping Diana glowing as she’s expelling magic in her sleep.

Thursday, September 24

Diana’s day starts with her waking up from a nightmare about drowning followed by being sick from an overload of adrenaline. Despite the weather, she needs to move and goes for a row followed by a walk. And that’s how Matthew finds Diana, walking around with her eyes closed in the fog. He decides to “rescue” her by offering to drive her home. On the way, he invites Diana for breakfast and she agrees. They talk and eat, well, Diana does.

Friday, September 18

Diana Bishop calls up Ashmole 782, examines it and returns it to the stacks despite sensing its magic.

Monday, September 28 

Diana is looking for Matthew at Bodleian but instead, she meets an irritated Miriam. She asks for Matthew and is told he’s hunting in Scotland. Miriam returns a sweater Diana left in Matthew’s car, tells her to be more careful with her things. Diana walks away, fuming, and her hands starts to spark, not a good thing in a place full of old books but she manages to calm down enough for it to stop.

The library is still full of creatures and Diana asks them to step away as ordinary people are bound to notice. The first one she approaches introduces himself as Peter Knox and wants to make a deal but Diana is not interested in what he has to say.

Saturday, September 26

Matthew goes hunting in Scotland in an attempt to get away from his feelings for Diana. His old friend Hamish Osborne - a daemon - decides to join him for some much needed R&R. The weekend turns into a confession when Matthew opens up about his feelings for Diana, Ashmole 782 and what actually happened to the human women in his past. 

Diana finally returns the call to her aunts back in Madison. Sarah is concerned about the company Diana is keeping and how she acted with Ashmole 782.

Tuesday, September 22

Diana can’t get away from Matthew. She goes to the library and he’s there, in her space. Other creatures are there too, among them a wizard who is trying to read Diana’s mind. Diana isn’t happy about this so she goes for a row but sees Matthew watching her from a bridge. She confronts him, demanding answers about why he and his friends are stalking her. Matthew says they aren’t his friends and that they are all after the same thing, Ashmole 782. He wants to know what she did with the book as it’s missing again and warns her that the creatures will keep being interested in her as “It’s uncommon these days for a witch to have so much . . . potential.” 

Diana goes home and does some online research on Matthew. There’s nothing on the man, but quite a lot about his work, including research papers in no less than 4 seemingly unconnected areas. Diana’s sure they are connected somehow, but not sure how... yet.

Tuesday. September 29 

Diana is working at the Bodleian, as usual, when Gillian decides it’s time to tell Diana the truth about her parents deaths. It was witches that murdered them and not humans. Gillian greatly enjoys seeing Diana’s pain and continues to blame the Bishop witches for being too powerful and attracting human interest throughout history, ending with threatening Diana her parents fate might just turn out to be hers as well. 

Diana is then invited to drinks with the warden and feels she can’t decline the invite. When she gets there, Knox is waiting for her. With a bit of magic, he manages to get her alone and starts to talk about why the witches need to be the ones getting hold of Ashmole, belittling the fact that she managed to call it up as being “a fluke”. Diana excuses herself and leaves as soon as the warden returns.
