Adrien and Nino had a policy to tell each other everything. It started after Nino chewed Adrien’s dad out one too many times without telling him first, but it stuck because they agreed it was just good policy to be open with your friends. Secrets aren’t a good foundation for any kind of relationship.
Of course, Adrien hated it, but he did have to keep one secret from his best friend. And he was really regretting it now, because it had landed him in one hell of an awkward conversation.
He and Nino were video chatting, under the guise of helping each other with homework. It was one of those rare Sunday evenings when Adrien had nothing scheduled, though his father was busy downstairs, running around like a madman and breaking the souls of his interns in the rush to plan their spring line. Adrien was quite happy to stay in his room and do nothing for a while.
They actually were working on homework for a few minutes. When Nathalie came in to check on him, Adrien hurried to look busy, but then they stuck to it even after she left, and lapsed into silence, with the rapid tapping of Nino’s pencil on his desk keeping time.
“Hey, dude?” Nino asked after a minute. His voice sounded strained, and Adrien figured he was having trouble with the math problem they were on. He definitely was.
“Yeah?” Adrien asked, not taking his eyes from his paper. Nino didn’t speak for a moment, so Adrien looked up. Though his face was trained towards his phone’s camera, Nino’s eyes were clearly fixed on a spot on the wall above it. “What’s up?”
Nino wetted his lips nervously. “I, uh, don’t want to be that guy, but is it okay if I ask you about… gay stuff?”
Adrien chuckled. “Yeah, man, I don’t mind.”
Adrinino November Day 1: Family
"Hey, are you okay?”
“Hmm?” Adrien shook himself back to awareness and looked at Nino. “Did you say something?”
“I asked if you were okay but I’m guessing the answer is no.”
Adrien smiled sadly, looking down at the box of ornaments Nino had brought over from his house. “It’s nothing.”
“It’s something,” Nino prodded. “What? Are my ornaments not up to your standards?” He held up a star made out of craft sticks and covered in ancient glitter glue and pom-poms. “I’m a natural artist, you know. These could be in a museum someday.”
Adrien took the star from him, holding it reverently. “I promise it’s not that. This is obviously a fantastic piece of art.”
Nino chuckled and took it back, gently tossing it on top of the pile of homemade ornaments from his childhood. “You know we don’t actually have to put these on the tree, right? My mom just said now that we have our own place, I had to get my stuff out of her way.”
“I want to put them on the tree.”
Nino studied his boyfriend’s face. “What’s going on?” Adrien pursed his lips and Nino nudged his shoulder with his own. “You may as well tell me. You know how this will go down if you don’t.”
Adrien smiled and nodded, attention still on the box of ornaments. “Yeah, I’m familiar with your forms of persuasion.”
“So?”
He sighed, shoulders slumping. “It’s going to sound...I don’t know, pitiful.”
“Just tell me.”
“I think I’m a little jealous,” Adrien admitted.
“Of what?”
“Of this.” He gestured to the box of ornaments. “I don’t have this.”
“A box of crappy ornaments made by a kid?” Nino asked.
“A box of family memories,” Adrien replied quietly. “All of our ornaments were chosen and coordinated and not to be touched. I don’t even know where any of them are. They changed every year to be on theme. I tried decorating the tree one year and didn’t even finish. I told you it’s pitiful.”
They sat in silence for a few moments, the low sounds of Christmas music drifting through the apartment. “We need to go to the store,” Nino finally said, standing.
“For what?”
“Craft supplies. Come on, we don’t have long before they close.”
Adrien stood as well, face a mask of confusion. “What are you talking about?”
“If we’re putting my crappy ornaments on the tree, we’re putting your crappy ornaments on there too. Now come on, we have nineteen years worth of hot glue and clumpy glitter to catch up on.”
“Nino, we don’t have to--”
Nino cut him off with a soft kiss. “Let me do this for you. Please.”
Adrien rested his forehead against Nino’s and took a deep breath. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Nino stole another quick kiss before pulling away and taking Adrien’s hand. “Let’s go. We have new family memories to make.”
Buy me a coffee?

if my heart holds out that long
For @adrinino-november because the prompt is First Kiss. More like my longest yeah boi ever, haha.
I also... have no clue what the fuck that title is supposed to be. Originally I was ripping something off but then I erased that part and this was left? I don’t know, I’m sorry. Ignore the title.
Nino’s palms are sweaty.
Kim’s words ring in his ears as he stares at Adrien. They’re laying on his bed, food they raided from Nino’s kitchen surrounding them as random YouTube videos play in the background.
“Do you mind if I play In A Heartbeat again?” Adrien asks, and Nino immediately rolls his eyes, knowing that Adrien will constantly check to see how much longer the current video will play. He’s not very sneaky.
He pulls the laptop closer to himself and searches for the short film, trying hard not to let his heart flip flop as Adrien leans his body closer.

continuing on my trend of doing stuff for @adrinino-november and not managing to hit a single prompt............ it’s adrien in his boyfriend’s hat
Family = Nino
I made it! It’s still a half hour to midnight where I am, so have the first day’s prompt for @adrinino-november. I had so much trouble with what I wanted to do for this prompt, and my initial intention was to skip this day because half the sentences in here I’ve used in practically every piece of my writing.
But then I saw @siderealsandman‘s post, and. Wow. So have my unedited, choppy, messy writing while I go to sleep and pretend I’m a good writer.
There’s something enchanting about the way Nino sleeps curled up, as if trying to take up the smallest amount of space. He always forgets to take off his glasses, leaving them to hang off his face. The handles were bent, but Adrien would probably cry if there was ever a day where Nino took off his glasses efore going to sleep.
.... He’d definitely cry, to be honest.
The moonlight spilled onto the floor as Adrien got up from his desk, making his way towards Nino. It was too late to pick him up: Nino would most definitely wake up and then be unable to go back to sleep. He grabbed a blanket from their room, took Nino’s glasses off, and sat back in his armchair, settling in for a late night.
His thoughts lingered, until they arrived to the one thing he hadn’t been able to get off his mind: today marked five years since his father had been defeated. Sometimes he thought about his father’s crushing grip on his emotions, how he’d been manipulated to think that family meant suffering.
He hates him.
Family was warmth. Family was endless support and unconditional love. Family was...
Nino, Adrien decided, smiling as he mumbled something in his sleep. He thought about the way Nino defended him just because he could, fought for Adrien as if no one had faced bigger injustices.
Nino had been there for Adrien when he didn’t know he needed anyone. In the midst of his father filling him up with guilt, Nino had extended his kindness without limits, going to pains to reassure Adrien. He still did it sometimes, telling him that he was allowed to mess up, to be human. There’d be no one who could bring him to tears the way Nino could.
There’d be no one, even if centuries pass, who’d mean as much to Adrien as Nino did.
Some part of him wondered if it was too early to want to strengthen their relationship.
But having a cat wouldn’t throw them off too much, would it?
