The problem with my style of knitting is that I know enough to know that I find some choices in this pattern not what I "would" do, but not quite enough that I trust myself to "know more than someone writing and selling a pattern!" so I am unsure about changing it.
I think I have to just go for it and trust myself, it is hard to have low self esteem for a hobby I have been doing this long. I just wish I had a knitting group I could bounce ideas off of in case they could troubleshoot it. (and I am not posting on reddit, no way no how)
In case anyone can correct or validate me here, I am doing the Arctic Light sweater. It begins with a folded collar that you will sew down later, and goes right into the sweater which is full of cables. Wouldn't it be a better move to start with the sweater and then pick up the collar after a little bit? Or if I did start at the collar is it more stable to sew it down than to knit it down? Isn't it still a seam? I could be wrong! I am very willing to be wrong, I just want to understand. Since I am a bigger gal, I am concerned about the weight and stability of the cables and am considering putting the planned yarn fully aside because I didn't realize it is superwash and I know that is a bad idea for stable fabric that doesn't stretch out.
