Dear Aelina
As Tugger gazed down at his little daughter tucked into her bed, waiting patiently for her bedtime lullaby, his eyes misted over. He smiled and began to sing.
"Dear Aelina, what to say to you? You have her eyes, you have your father's mane,"
Aelina giggled and pulled at the fluffy tuffs of red fur at the base of her neck.
"When you came into the world, you cried, and it broke my heart..."
Aelina pouted and pawed at her father. Tugger laughed as he laid down next to her, continuing with the song.
"I'm dedicating every day to you. Domestic life was never quite my style... When you smile... you knock me out, I fall apart,"
Tugger laughed again slightly as he sung the next lyric.
"And I thought I was so smart,"
Aelina grinned happily.
"You will come of age with our young nation. We'll bleed and fight for you. We'll make it right for you... If we lay a strong enough foundation... We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you,"
Tugger smiled again and pressed a gentle kiss to Aelina's forehead.
"And you'll blow us all away..."
Aelina blinked up at her father, singing the next lyric in her weak little voice, as though asking a question.
"Someday, someday?"
Tugger nodded and smiled proudly.
"Yeah, you'll blow us all away..."
Aelina giggled.
"Someday, someday..."
Little did the pair know, across the junkyard, a similar scene was unfolding.
Asparagus smiled as he held his kit in his arms. Tumble grinned as his father began to sing. He loved hearing his father's voice.
"Oh Tumble, when you smile I am undone, my son. Look at my son! Pride is not the word I'm looking for. There is so much more inside me now..."
Asparagus smiled softly as he stroked Tumble's head fur.
"Tumble, you outshine the morning sun... My son. When you smile, I fall apart...,"
Asparagus laughed as he sung the next lyric.
"And I thought I was so smart,"
Asparagus smiled weakly as his son drifted off to sleep in his arms.
"My father wasn't around..."
Tugger fondly gazed down at his daughter while she fell asleep, her head resting on his side, and he continued to sing.
"My father wasn't around..."
Asparagus sighed as he gently tucked Tumble into his bed. Meanwhile Tugger slowly lifted his arm up and moved away.
"I swear that I'll be around for you..."
Asparagus bit his lip as tears came to his eyes.
"I'll do whatever it takes..."
Tugger sighed as he felt a little pang in his heart.
"I'll make a million mistakes..."
"I'll make the world safe and sound for you..."
"You will come of age with our young nation... We'll bleed and fight for you, We'll make it right for you. If we lay a strong enough foundation, We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you. And you'll blow us all away.."
