I know, me too! I even checked Amazon.fr and the French versions are also sold out, but only til like May 9, and I considered it but the delivery fees from France plus delivery time plus the Euro/Dollar conversion I decided I didn't want it that badly.
I guess I'll wait til June. Or until the semester ends and I have time to actually go to a book store/read an unassigned book.
aerogare said: just ignore them and do your own thing. nobody is making you do a study group, right?
There's a lot of peer pressure when it's practically everyone in the class and you're all friends. Also, usually one good rant is usually enough to make me feel a little better about the whole thing. Plus, if it's anything like last semester's study groups, they'll kind of dissolve mid-way through the semester and just turn into the occasional sharing of notes.
We'll see. My plan is to just keep my mouth shut, turn in my notes when needed, and rant about it on tumblr.
Rule 1: Always post the rules
Rule 2: Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked, and write 11 new ones
Rule 3: Tag 11 people and link them to the post
Rule 4: Actually tell them you tagged them

Questions for me:
What is more important to you: Stability or freedom? I know it's the lame answer, but stability is more important to me. For instance, if having a steady and well-paying job meant that I couldn't drop everything and go to Disney with my friends, I would sacrifice my Disney trip.
If you had to change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would make myself more hard-working. I am notorious for finding the easiest way to do any project. I always got good grades and I do well at my jobs, but in my personal life, I find it's hard to motivate myself to do unshortcuttable tasks.
What one thing do you want to see the end of before you die? I really want all of A Song of Ice and Fire to be out before I die. Or, more accurately, before George RR Martin dies.
What do you get up in the morning for? I get up in the morning to walk my dog. To kiss my husband. To get that paper. To go on Tumblr. :)
When you were a child, who or what did you think you were going to be as an adult? Famous. By the time I got to high school, I realized that I would never be famous. I didn't even want to be famous. But my obnoxiousness hasn't died out yet.
What is your favorite video game? I really liked Guitar Hero. Also, Pokemon and Zelda. Animal Crossing. Pretty much any Mario game. Sports games. Wow, I really didn't answer this question. Sorry.
Coffee or tea? Tea! But I like coffee an awful lot, too. And Cocoa. Yummmmmm.
What do you look for in a partner? Okay the thing is, I am not and never really was looking for a partner. Matt and I just sort of met and everything fell into place. But since that's a total cop-out answer, I'll say some of my favorite things about Matt: he's smart and funny. He has goals and plans to meet them. He's kind to me and animals and waitstaff. He's a good leader. He likes a lot of the same stuff that I do. He understands my fangirl life. He makes time to do the things I like to do and never complains about it. He walks the dog when she wakes up and I'm still too sleepy. He makes delicious food. He puts me in my place when I need grounding, in a way that doesn't totally piss me off. He fights fair and never calls me names. He sees his own faults and works on them. He pokes fun at me, but always reassures me when I'm feeling insecure. He has initiative and cares about the world and people in general in a way that most people (including myself) rarely bother to. He's got thick skin and a big heart. He's good at grammar. And he just gets me, ya know?
Do you believe in a higher power? Anyone that has known me for a while knows that I am a spiritual flip-flopper. I have gone through my life halfheartedly believing in one thing or another, but I've never been able to fully devote myself to one thing. So, yes, I believe in a capital-S Something, but I don't subscribe to any one religion. I've found that I'm much happier believing in whatever mix-and-match spirituality I've created for myself than trying to devote myself to a religion that I can't fully commit to/believe in.
Who or what was the most important person/thing in your formative years? Probably Star Wars. I watched a lot of freaking Star Wars. And I really think it helped me understand a lot about heroics and fantasy and good versus evil and light versus darkness. The Force and Yin and Yang and balance. It really stuck with me and had a big part in forging my life philosophies.
If your best friend were asked, what would they say is your best trait? She would probably say my sense of humor. But that's just because when we get together, we turn into giggleghosts.
My questions:
1. How did you get into Tumblr?
2. How is your relationship with your parents?
3. Did you like high school? Did you belong to a particular clique?
4. If you could choose your last meal, what would it be?
5. What TV show should I be watching?
6. Besides Tumblr and work and boring shit like that, how do you spend most of your time?
7. What do you think is your most attractive attribute?
8. What is the last big purchase you made? Are you pleased with it?
9. What's your favorite season?
10. Is there something you should be doing right now?
11. What's something you've done that you're ashamed of?
And I'm going to tag

I actually mentioned to Van Tuyl last time I visited New College about how "one of my friends from New College" was getting grades over 100% in grad school.
Her response was "Yeah, I'm sure you'll run into the same grading schemes. And, as you know, in New College terms, a grade like 105% would just mean: 'This is really an excellent piece, buuuut here's how you could improve...''

IPAs are often my go-to, but biking in this heat, I can see myself making a big dent in the Shamrock's supply of Shift Pale Lager if they keep it priced to sell. Hop-forward sessionable lagers make me happy. I'd love to see more hop-forward pilsners out there.
