Amy and I write a piece of fanfiction one sentence at a time
In which Shane is a blind man. (I didn't know this when I was writing my sentences, but Amy did.)
“Hello”
Liam looked up with confusion from the art piece he was slaving over, a puce, tree-sized rendition of Karma’s right hand. “How did you know what I was calling this piece? It’s not even finished yet…” Liam’s eyebrows knotted together with tense confusion as he tried to make out who was standing in the dark doorway.
Shane laughed, camply, as he stepped towards Liam. “It’s obvious if you have as much insight into your pretentious angst brain as I do, silly,” he condescended.
Liam dodged as Shane tripped up, nearly falling into his lap. “Where’s your dog? You haven’t even got your stick, how did you get here without help?” Shane was facing the wrong way.
“I just followed the sound of your closeted noises!” Shane snapped, irritated at Liam’s face, as he leaned his hand on Hello seductively. “I only came for some advice, anyway,” Shane reached into his enormous bag and pulled out a life-size sculpture of Liam’s head.
“What is that?” Liam half-smiled as he stared at his clay self.
(aka I can't wait to find out what Rosencrantz and Guildenstern thought of the situation)
So a few days ago, as I was off to go to Wales my wonderful partner told me casually that she was planning a surprise for me. This sparked my curiosity enough that I got really into it when, over the next few days, she rather less casually asked me to guess what said surprise was.
Credit where credit's due, as I already had a pretty strong plan to spend the rest of my life with her, I probably would have guessed it much quicker had she not flummoxed with certain answers. Such answers as "not necessarily" to the question "Is it a primarily romantic surprise?" (It has since been explained to me that, had I said no, it would not have been primarily romantic, so A+ answer on the whole.) However, before long and many, many questions, I decided that as it had nothing to do with fandoms, other people, other places (necessarily), music, or clothing, there were only a finite number of things it could be, and that I maybe wasn't being far too optimistic for thinking I might be getting proposed to.
So one night, I asked, "is it either a dress or a ring?" this was the most casual way I could think of to work out what was coming without making it completely obvious I had cottoned on. It turns out, it was completely obvious I had cottoned on.
Then on Friday I was invited to a game of our favourite board game - because we're so cool that we have one of them - and all of a sudden there was a ring in front of me and I got told that Amy couldn't wait any longer. I don't think I could have either.
