26 staples, a warriors scar, a stoma bag and several selfies. This was the hardest thing I've ever been through. Was only allowed one visitor due to covid regulations and that was for one hour a day! Got there though. I'm out and at home and now adjusting to my new way of going twosies!
So true. I put off getting help for a long time due to putting work, money and other things first. Now I'm stuck at home like a potato doing fuck all but going insane. 🙃
After waiting 19 and a half hours in A&E with severe abdominal pain, to which was due to having perforated my bowel in 2 separate places, to then being told I need emergency surgery which lasted over 7 hours, then waking up to 26 staples holding me together and having a stoma bag I've recently come to the conclusion that I am one tough S.O.B! Old me would never have handled this... New me, despite the struggles, is coping well! 🤘

You should check this guy’s You Tube channel out. He describes things so well. Just been watching this video on causes of bowel obstruction. I have recently looked after a few of these patients pre and post op. I also really enjoy anything to do with the GI tract. I now have a much clearer understanding of causes of bowel obstruction. I never fully understood what a pseudo obstruction was but now I do!
Celebrating four years free of the bowel obstruction that plagued my stomach from the fetus days.
Just realized tonight that my four-year bowel surgery anniversary is a week and a half away..... Hooo BOY, that one snuck up me!
Almost 2 years post Laparoscopy
And I get told that there’s a massive chance that I have Endometriosis on and within the walls of my bowel. ;I now have to see a specialist who will decide how much is going to get cut away and removed or whether it’s a case of them seeing when they get in there if it’s even spread too much for that. I’m distraught, I have been trying to convince them of my symptoms being back and how much pain I have been in since December and today I find out that had the doctors listened, it may not have spread into the bowel especially not so severely.
Could everyone please send @afaithfulfew all your kindest thoughts and cutest gifs. She’s in hospital due to a nasty case of c diff colitis. She’s had surgery to remove her large bowel and she’s fought incredibly well but she still has a long road left to recovery. X
