I took this photo one Autumn along the river walk from Cahir Castle to the Swiss Cottage in County Tipperary in Ireland. This beautiful 2km tree lined walk meanders along the river Suir. Since 1898, the dramatic clock tower of San Francisco's Ferry Building has been an icon at the waterfront. At its peak, as many as 50,000 people a day commuted by ferry. As more people used cars, the Ferry Building was used very little by the 1950’s. In March 2003, after an extensive four-year restoration, the building opened again to the public. El Capitan (known as El Cap) is a vertical rock formation in Yosemite Valley. The granite monolith is 3,000 feet from base to summit along its tallest face, and is very popular among rock climbers. It was named "El Capitan" in 1851 by the Mariposa Battalion. The black phoebe has predominantly black plumage with a white belly. It is from the flycatcher family and lives in a variety of habitats but is always near water. It feeds on a wide variety of insects including beetles, grasshoppers, crickets, wild bees, wasps, flies, moths, caterpillars and sometimes small fish. It can be recognized by a characteristic "tail-wagging" motion, in which the tail is lowered and the tail's feathers fanned out. It can be found in west and southwest America, Mexico and Central America, and parts of South America. The Emperor Butterfly has an iridescent blue color on the top of its wings and this brown pattern on the bottom. The brilliant blue color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly. It is found in Mexico, North/South/Central America, Paraguay and Trinidad. Founded in 1994, the Petersen Automotive Museum is one of the largest in the world. It is located in the Miracle Mile area of LA, not far from LACMA. It’s a nonprofit organization with over 100 vehicles in its 25 galleries, specializing in the History, Industry, and Artistry of the Automobile.
